My daughter needed a mesh back pack for school and we bought the Jansport in scarlet. It is a bit large for my second grader who just turned 7, but not so overwhelming that she can't handle it. It is probably the standard size for an adult back pack.
The mesh is thick and sturdy--unlike others we bought and lasted less than a year before wearing out on the bottom, and it is roomy for books and folders. It has a front pocket in the same mesh material. but it also has a small inside pocket in a solid canvas sort of material that is handy for small items, or pointy pencils that could hurt someone poking out of the mesh pocket.
The straps have plenty of padding for comfort when carrying a full load.
I love Jansport--still have a back pack of theirs that I carried in college (15 years ago) and it is still in perfect condition. I did not hesitate in ordering this back pack and do not regret it--this is a plain, but durable and comfortable pack.

'bought one for my wife for cycling to get air flow cooling. It came this morning and I ordered another for me.

This is a great backpack for amusement parks or anywhere with a security check point. It's well ventilated. People are always asking where did I get it.

I looked long and hard for a backpack for my daughter's swimming gear. It seemed that a regular backpack didn't dry out properly each night and all the other mesh backpacks seemed cheaply made. She has a drawstring mesh bag but that got full fast once you consider the fins, board, goggles, etc. This bag exceeded all my expectations! It's well made and the mesh is STRONG!! Not flimsy like most mesh bags. The best part is that it fits EVERYTHING she needs for class. This product is fantastic and a bargain to boot!

this bag is pretty cool I'm a correction officer with a 25 mile one way commute and i can take this bag in to work because you can see through it and its convenient because i ride a motorcycle it was exactly what i wanted.

Swim every day and needed a better bag to carry my wet items. It was either a mesh bag with a drawstring or a canvas bag that got just as wet. This bag is great!! Put it on my back and can carry my gear with no problems!, love it!!!

It was better than we expected. That bag would have cost us $50.00 in the store. We got it for $17.00 WOW!

Mesh backpacks do not last very long. My son is required to use one, and I usually buy 4 or 5 per year because they rip very easily. This JanSport seems more rugged. I am hoping it will last the year. None of the other brands have.

My daughter started middle school this year and a see through backpack was a requirement. I looked all over town for something that looked like it would survive more than a few weeks of wear and tear with large textbooks inside. Finally found this JanSport pack and was ecstatic. My daughter loved the purple color. It's mesh but quite sturdy and well worth the price. It's big enough to hold her notebook and a couple of textbooks which is perfect. Highly recommend this product.

My son's school requires either a clear vinyl or mesh backpack. I've tried the vinyl a couple times and they're not very durable. This one is perfect in every way! Size is great and durability is fantastic!! They come in a variety of colors - however, I chose black so dirt doesn't show. I have recommended to several other parents as well as the school. Now the school is recommending to parents as well.
