1. It is made from very thin plastic - can break easily due to bag pressure
2. Fits better and clicks when I put it in reverse position than in the front of the lens to block the stray light 3. Takes some time to put it properly in front of the lens 4. No vignetting caused by the hood So I guess it is worth the cost. But if you are a pro or someone that packs the bags tight or use the hood frequently, get the Canon one.

I had a hard time finding the Canon version of this hood in stock. I also couldn't justify the price of the Canon brand hood. This hood works great, couldn't be happier.

The hood looks to be good quality plastic but it does not fit the Cannon EF 75-300 as described in the title. It is way too loose to fit on my lens.
