I live in western Oregon, and commute 8-miles 1-way 5 days a week. I thought that this helmet cover would be a great idea, but I was very wrong. Don't get me wrong, it keeps the rain out and is highly visible, and if you have a short ride (perhaps only 2 or 3 miles), you will like it.

For me, it turned out not so great. Why, you ask?

In a nutshell: sweat. On my often rainy, high humidity commute, my head pours out a copious amounts of sweat, but the helmet prevents airflow (not the same as breathable), so I end up dripping sweat just as much (if not more) than if I let the rain wash on through. To make things worse, where the rain would be rinsing all that sweat away, I was now stuck with a bunch of helmet pads soaked with sweat, which got quite stinky (even with weekly washings). So, helmet cover had to go.

I still want to like it, but it has no place in my current commute -- and if you sweat on your commute, it probably won't work for you, either.

This helmet cover really works! I do alot of riding in rainy weather here in Ohio so keeping dry and comfortable is most important to me. This helmet cover is most excellent. I rode back to Akron from my brother's place in Jackson Twp. and my head stayed dry for the entire ride. It was a very rainy day the whole day. I am very impressed with this helmet cover. The Stormtech fabric is as good as Gore-Tex. It breathes well too! I highly recommend this helmet cover!

Anyone buying this knows what they are in for. You are going to stand out and look crazy. Personally I like the attention it grabs from motorists. It will keep your head really really warm on windy days and it does a pretty good job at keeping your head dry during a pouring rain. It will always be in my storm sack when on a tour.

Warm, and highly visible. does fit over the visor on my helmet, too, which is critical. I'll buy another for the
GF.
