Not for older babies,
This review is from: Jane Powertwin in Azulon (Baby Product)
I purchased this stroller for my babies ages 5 months and 23 months. I can see how the stroller would be great for twins between the ages of 7 months and 2 years- durable, well made, love the three wheel set-up. You could get a good 1 1/2 years of use out of the stroller. But for children older or younger than that, the stroller is sub par and unsafe- definitely not worth $540 dollars. Since there is not a carrier car seat approved for the stroller, I put my 5 month old in the fully reclined back seat. Unfortunately, his legs dangle off the seat and the sunshade doesn't provide much shade. The shade is too small for the seat in a fully reclined position. (I have the single Inglesina stroller and miss the way the front of the seat lays flat to support the legs of a newborn then folds down for an older child.) Most upsetting- my 23 month old is already too big for the stroller. Already I have to take the sunshade completely off of his seat since he would have to bend his neck and back in order to fit under the sade. He is also getting too big for the lap bar. I tried to use the stroller for my 3-year-old nephew, but immediately I saw the stroller is dangerous to use for a child his age. His feet wouldn't stay on the small footplate. When his feet would dangle off they got caught up in the wheel. He was also too big for the seat. I couldn't strap him in. He looked like a giant sitting in a newborn's chair. I wrote to Jane explaining my situation but they offered no return option- no explanation for why a two year old is already too big for a stroller that says each seat is suitable for a child up to 45 pounds (implying that the seat isn't just for ingants, right?) They also offered a frustrating suggestion that I use a hat and sunscreen to replace the sunshade. I am stuck with an expensive stroller that I can't use. If you are looking for a stroller that you can use when your children are older than 2 this is not the stroller for you. I recommend the Phil and Ted's E3, the Valco, Baby Jogger City Series, Bob.... There are a few great options in this price range that offer a much larger window of use ....

Filled with regret for wasting so much money on this!,

Awful. Just awful.
Purchased online for my 25 month old and my newborn. My older child didn't fit into the seat from DAY ONE (and we purchased from a site that had no return option). His knees were up towards his chest and the sunshade is so low that we couldn't put it up at all, as his head would be pressing into it. He was only 25 months old and 29 lbs! They say up to 45 lbs - to me, that's insanity at best and at worst a bad lie - no 45 lb child would be able to use this, seriously. As for the newborn, you can recline the backseat all the way, but then the teeny-tiny sunshade doesn't protect them at all, so we had to spend MORE money on a separate sunshade that means we can't see him while pushing and it has to be untied to get him out from behind the front seat. It's much heavier than it looks, and with the heavier child over the single wheel in front, it always wants to tip when turning corners. The basket is virtually useless because you can't get to it. I have actually scraped the skin on the back of my hand trying to squeeze something in there. PLEASE try and look at one rather than buying online sight unseen, because I really believe you will see that it's a waste. We ended up going to a store in desperation and buying another $300 cheap-plastic combi double side-by-side that is flimsy and unsteady and I hate pushing, but at least the children can sit comfortably and recline and sleep in it. p.s. we had the Bugaboo Frog for our firstborn and miss it so, so much, so for me it's not about the price - we were willing to spend more for quality. This is just a poor product.

Best double stroller available,

I've had this stroller for 3 years now. My kids are 18 mos apart. It has been fantastic. It steers well and my 4.5 year old still likes to ride in it and he's 75th percentile for height.
The con is the front sun shade isn't really high enough, but we don't use them anyway. I took the sunshade off my bugaboo frog too. The only other issue we've had is now that my boys are both 35lbs it does seem to sometimes tip when I turn tight corners, but this wasn't a problem until more recently. I find the storage basket plenty sufficient but I'm not a carry the kitchen sink with me. It has the most and easiest access of my 3 strollers.

We've used our Jane Double Stroller for about 6 months now with our 18 mo. old and 9 mo. old and absolutely love it. It's perfect for bumpy city sidewalks and trips to the store. I don't have to lift it over bumps and cracks and it easily fits down store aisles with plenty of clearance for other shoppers. It folds and unfolds easily, is easy to steer, and is pretty easy to take jogging. It doesn't have a cup holder (you can buy one from Valco) and the basket isn't super roomy, but sturdiness and maneuverability were far more important to us. It's very easy to push, steer, and turn. As for the sun shade, it DOES come down quite far and covered our baby completely from the sun. You just have to push it forward past what is shown in the stock photos. Our infant has ridden in it since she was 2 months old. This stroller is NOT for you if: 1. You have to take it in and out of the trunk (it's rather heavy). We have another Combi double stroller we take on out of town trips. The Combi is fine for convenience, but it is a pain to push on uneven surfaces. 2. You only use it once in a while at the mall on flat surfaces (save your $$$.) 3. Storage (both in the stroller and of the stroller) is a huge issue.

Jane Powertwin plastic wheels,
By

We bought this stroller, and at the beginning we were very happy with it. Our daughter was 29 lb and our son 20 pounds at that time. My daughter, who was less than the 50th percentile on growth charts, was already to long for the stroller. She was kicking the front wheel into the locking position most of the time. Also, the footrest for the front seat was too small, as well as her head was touching the sunshade. Then, the hubs on the back wheels were cracking, causing the wheels to lean inward. Within three weeks, one of wheels broke and made the stoller unusable. We returned it back to the store where we bought it, and they told us that other parents were returning the stoller with the same complaint of broken rear wheels, but it is more common with larger children. It was happening so frequently that the store stopped carrying the stroller. We liked the stroller as far as usability and ease to push, however we were very dissapointed that such an expensive stroller has back wheels made with such fragile plastic.

PHOTOS OF JANE POWERTWIN WITH KIDS!!,
By Elle (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jane Powertwin in Azulon (Baby Product)
yea!! i finally found photos of the Jane powertwin with kids in it. (it gives you a perspective) search for this on amazon: "Piccolo Small Child Snack Tray for Strollers 2009" and someone uploaded photos of the piccolo snack tray attached to a jane powertwin & it clearly shows exactly how tiny these seats are in the powertwin. there's an 18ish month old with his head above where the shade is in the front seat & with his knees sharply bent so his feet are on the little platform. it also shows how a 3ish month old will fit perfectly. I searched high and low for photos like this (decided to get a bob duaille instead of the jane powertwin) but thought I'd pass them along to other people! (ps - those photos were there as of june 5th 2010)

Great stroller, considering the competition!,
This review is from: Jane Powertwin in Azulon (Baby Product)
We bought this stroller in September 2006, one of the first available in the US. I had a single Maxi-Cosi 4 wheel drive stroller and LOVED it. I thought there would be something similar on the market for a double. No such luck!
One of those crappy Graco doubles doesn't hold a candle to this stroller. My neighbor has a new Zooper Tango and it sags in the center, really bad. Who has room in their car for a double jogger? and the side by sides barely fit through the door of a store. This baby turns on a dime and is great for zipping around the racks of stores and going off road at the park. This stroller has a couple of flaws, but they are far outweighed by the abilty for this stroller to maneuver around town. Flaw #1 the child in the front can kick the wheel lock and that's a pain in the rear. Flaw#2 once your kids are a little taller, the sun shades are virtually useless. We haven't used them for a long time.

Wonderful stroller!,

I absolutely love this stroller! I have a 3 year old and a 10 month old (both are bigger than average for their age) who ride in it comfortably. The front seat could stand to be a little roomier for my daughter but she's comfortable enough to fall asleep in it. The stroller is so easy to steer that I can hold a door open and push the stroller through with one hand while both kids are in it. And I have no problem tipping it back (with both kids in it, the older one in front) to get up curbs. It doesn't feel like it's going to snap in half like most double strollers do. We recently went to Disney and blew out one of the tires on our first day there. If we had not been able to get it fixed immediately at a local bicycle shop, I was going to order another one and have it overnighted to the resort. That's how awesome I think this stroller is. I agree with the other reviewer on some points though. The footrest for the front seat should be bigger and most older siblings are going to be too tall for the sunshade. But I still love the stroller and wouldn't live without it.

We have been using this stroller for about 9 months. I have used it from the day my second child was born and loved it. My two year old fits fine but I do notice that on occasion he kicks the wheel into the locking position. This folds down very small but is a bit on the heavy side (but what tandem isn't). The people at Jane are super helpful.
We LOVE this stroller.

Awesome stroller - easy to steer, compatible with an infant seat, slender enough to fit between clothing racks. Maybe there is a tad less leg room than other strollers, but my daughter had no problem resting her feet up on the front foot pate and there's plenty of room in the back seat. No doubt, this is the best double stroller on the market.
