Song not on soundtrack,
By
This review is from: Jane Austen Book Club (Score) (Audio CD)
I'm judging this CD by the songs that were in the movie as to compared to what is on the soundtrack. It's deceptive to me to provide wonderful songs for the movie and not put them on the ST. All the songs I'm looking at on the ST are by Aaron Zigman; please know that I am not saying his material isn't well done but I was looking for one particular song; it played during the closing credits. It's by Madeleine Peyroux, "Getting Some Fun Out of Life." It's not on this soundtrack.

Bonnie,

Though I've come to love the soundtrack for it's calming intrumentals, I was acutely disappointed when it first arrived. I was specifically interested in the songs used in the movie and they were not on the soundtrack. Some of these songs are not available from the original artist. Other soundtracks I've ordered because of hearing songs I loved in the movie include all the songs performed by different artists as well as the intrumentals, so yes, it was a huge disappointment the individual artists were not included.

I was so looking forward to having this cd but I actually ended throwing it away in the garbage! I have never done that before I so wasted my money on this. ALl it was the movies music score! I had no idea, that is not what I expected from a soundtrack. What a giant rip off.

Although the music score is pleasant to listen to,(music heard during month interludes while club members are reading their novels) what makes this movie work are a lot of the songs that are played throughout the film, and are missing from this CD (such as "Getting Some Fun Out of Life", "New Shoes", "So Sorry", etc)...why, didn't they come out with a complete soundtrack?

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT ARTIST SING ON THE MOVIE SOUNDTRACK,
By
This review is from: Jane Austen Book Club (Audio CD)
ALOHASOMETIME YOU HEAR A BEAUTIFUL VOICE SINGING WONDERFUL LYRIC'S, YOU'VE ONLY HEARD ON AN MOVIE SOUNDTRACK. YOU WANT TO KNOW WHOM THE ARTIST IS, SO YOU CAN ENJOY MORE OF THEIR MUSIC. MOST OF THE MUSIC I'VE COME TO LOVE, I HEARD WATCHING A MOVIE. THEN TOOK THE TIME TO TRY AND FIND IT, TO BE DISAPPOINTED! YES THE SCORE IS IMPORTANT! BUT SO IS THE SONG'S YOU'RE USING TO EXPRESS THE EMOTIONS BEING SHARED BY THE MOVIE CHARACTER'S! SOMETIME RELATING TO THE CHARACTER'S. IS AS IMPORTANT AS RELATING TO THE SONG'S THAT ALSO STRIKE A CORD IN YOUR HEART. MOVIE MAKERS SHOULD VIEW THIS AS A LEARNING LESSON. IF IT'S IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO PUT THE SONG'S INTO THE MOVIE. THAN SHARE IT WITH THE FANS! THIS IS HOW SOME PEOPLE RECEIVE AN EDUCATION ABOUT THE ART'S. WITH THE MAGIC OF MUSICAL ART'S USED IN THE MOVIES! THEN PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD CAN ENJOY AMERICAN MUSIC AS WELL AS THE MOVIES! BOTTOM LINE YOU CAN MAKE JUST AS MUCH MONEY ON THE MUSIC AS THE MOVIE. ALL IN ALL A WIN WIN SITUATION!The Jane Austen Book Club LUV & ALOHA KATHI JO

To the person who gave this title a one star review...,

What are you talking about?! A score is a very important part of a film; believe it or not, not everyone in the world is just interested in the sometimes crappy pop songs that get inserted into a film. The fact is, the score composer spends a lot more time and effort on his music for the film than any singers or pop artists who only get one or two songs in throughout a film, yet, for some strange reason, everyone likes their stuff better! Why? Why is it that so many people nowadays neglect true art, yet rush to buy CDs filled with modern day trash? Why is it that CDs FILLED to the brim with score, with only one or two pop songs (and those songs are used in the credits!) get "Featuring [insert song name here] by [insert band name here]!" listed on the front cover? Why doesn't it ever say "Featuring [insert score track here] by [insert composer name here]!"? The only case I've ever seen the latter is on the Indiana Jones 4 soundtrack, and even it was promoting only a WELL-KNOWN score track - Raiders March - which has ben around for twenty years. Why is it that NEW pop songs are promoted above NEW score tracks? Both are new; the only difference is that one likely took more talent to create than the other. I hate getting on here and iTunes to read reviews of people who can't stand orchestra music, music that took a lot of time and effort to create, music that has to fit the film perfectly down to the last detail. Why isn't orchestra music the "pop" music of today? It's been around longer, requires more time and thought to create, requires more musicians (80-800, at times), survives over a longer course of time in history - yet the moment rock and rap sweeps across the earth, is neglected and shoved aside, and people say it's not "cool." Who is it that defines what "cool" is? Why is being "cool" such an important thing in today's society. People need to shape up, realize what true art is, and - in your case - if you have a CD with only score and were hoping for something else, please realize that it took someone countless hours to create this work of art, and think of how they would feel if they knew you were throwing it in the trash. You need to realize the work involved in this field, and respect that effort. Hey, at least you could have sold it on eBay!!!! Oh, and another thing, don't think that all soundtracks have to have songs on them; the score is the majority of music heard throughout a movie, and that's what people SHOULD be caring about and wanting.
