From the Back Cover

Here, not only will you discover a treasure trove of facts about Jane's wonderful novels, but you'll also experience--through Jane's letters and the painstaking research by the authors--the irony of the world's finest romantic writer ultimately (due to tragedy and interference) failing to enjoy the same love and romance she poured into the lives of her fictional characters. Characters she truly cared for, like Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth.

Meet Jane Austen's family, friends, and rivals, and journey alongside the famous writer as her life and career are spread before you from beginning to end, courtesy of her loving and dedicated biographers and through her own words.

I enojoyed reading this book immensely. As a total Jane-ite, I already felt like I knew her through her novels, but this book brought her to life in previously unimaginable ways. A must-read for true Austen fans!

4.0 out of 5 stars A little tough to read, but great for Austen fans October 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I can't get enough information on the life of Jane Austen, there's so little out there. This book illuminates her personality through the eyes of her family, although of course they want to portray her in the best light possible. Too bad Cassandra burned so many of her letters.

4.0 out of 5 stars good starter volume December 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is a good place to start with Jane Austen's letters, although it's pretty clear that not all of them are included, and that they have been edited significantly. So, not a scholar's source, and to some extent not a great source if what you want to hear is her "voice," which is the reason I purchased it. So, giving it only 4 stars. But it's very accessible and quite interesting. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jane Austen May 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The beginning of the book was a bit confusing and seemed to ramble, but once you get into the actual letters and the explanations of the letters that Jane wrote it is as if you are able to have a glimpse into her life and her interests, what gave her joy and pain. I really enjoyed it

Like the other reviews I am enjoying reading this book. Being a jane fan it is nice to see the truth about her life where the movie romanticized .
