2.0 out of 5 stars Maybe if I were coordinated....
I find it very hard to get a good aerobic workout with this tape because I'm always kind of lost and stumbling with the steps. Also, I have a small living room and the routines take up a lot of front/back and side to side space.

This review refers to the "Jane Fonda Complete Workout" VHS...

No matter what your age or fitness level, this is an excercise tape that can be beneficial to everyone. It is called the "Complete Workout"..and it is!

Jane takes you from a great warm up and upper body workout, through a fat burning aerobic session to a lower body strengthening and toning segment and finally a wonderful cooldown and stretch that will not only make you feel good about yourself, but just plain good!

The class is divided into three seperate segments. You can take your time and build up to doing all three or choose the ones that fit your needs the most. The first session is about 15 minutes of toning and sculpting the arms and also includes a little chest work as well(some push ups). You can start off with light weights and work your way up as you get stronger. Right afterwards there is a 35 minute aerobic class, which you can also adapt to your fitness level. She starts with a good warm up(the first time I did it, I thought the warm up WAS the aerobics session...was I in for a surprise!) and the class is generally divided into two groups you can follow. One is low impact and the other a combination of high and low impact). The music is fun and Jane, as in all the segments, talks you through and motivates you every step of the way. If your still standing, after this one you can move on to the lower body class. A very intense 20 minutes of lunges(done with or without weights), floor exercise and a little ab work(not alot, but like I said intense enough to feel it).Intermediate and advanced may add ankle weights to make the work out even harder.

You can adapt these sessions in any way you like. One day the upper body and aerobics, the next time, the aerobics and lower body. I like to use this tape about three times a week, and in combination with Jane's "Yoga Exercise Workout" once a week, I am seeing results, and seem to have alot more energy than before.

Although this tape was made more than a dozen years ago, it is still a good and effective workout. It is an excellent value for the price.

"I feel good....like I knew that I would, yeah"....Laurie

5.0 out of 5 stars Jane Fonda's Complete Workout, January 7, 2000

I have done aerobics with Jane Fonda for over 10 years, and this is her best EVERYDAY tape! There are three ways of doing it, so it's difficult to get bored. Jane Fonda is unsurpassed when it comes to interesting, safe, fat-burning workouts. The weight routine is effective because you can use several different weight dumbbells. You also have 30 minutes of aerobics that alternates between low and high impact. This is a great fat burning, muscle building video workout. Beginners and advanced can give it a try. Either way, if you work out at home, this is one that belongs in your video library!

4.0 out of 5 stars Corny 80's video, but it's a good workout !, March 29, 2002
This review is from: Jane Fonda's Complete Workout [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you can get beyond the tacky clothes, big, big hair, corny video backdrops, and the annoying squealing voices (edited in AFTER the video was done), you'll find that this is not a bad workout video. There's both upper and lower body toning, you break a good sweat during the aerobics (which could be longer), and Jane Fonda does a great job explaining the moves. Decide between high and low impact, then follow the instructor in the lead. I bought this in a used bookstore, so I knew it would be dated, but it's also an aerobics classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Complete Body Workout, April 20, 2000

I own 12 Jane Fonda Workout videos and try to exercise "with Jane" on a daily basis. Out of all the videos I own, I perform this one most frequently. I've owned it for 9 years and still don't find it monotonous. It includes all you need for a great workout - strength training, aerobics and stretching. The dance moves are really fun, and you can perform them at a high intensity or low impact level. Jane includes dance routines from the 60's, a scottish jig and other fun routines. I highly recommend this video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jane Fonda still rules!, January 11, 2003

I've had the pleasure of owning this tape for over 3 years and it's still great! It really gives the complete workout fast and easily and yet you feel that you have achived some REAL results. I have never been a big believer in gymnastic videos, but after trying this one I was addicted. The video is easy to learn, fun and with a good tempo. Jane Fonda has help from two other teachers and especially Lauren Sparks makes you want to keep on going on a higher level even though you almost can't do it anymore! The video is basically in 3 parts, upperbody workout, aerobics and lowerbody workout. All the movements are shown and explained carefully and Jane keeps on reminding you of what to do and what not to do. It's safe and intelligent. The video keeps your sprits up and makes you feel good. Combine this video with the Lean Routine and you will get an excellent workout! I'm 23 and living in the 21st century and Jane Fonda still rocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's easy to move fast or slow and still keep up!, May 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Jane Fonda's Complete Workout [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video has great oldies music and uses old dance moves like swimming and go-go dancing. One person goes slow and low impact and Jane goes fast and high impact. It is so easy to get distracted watching that you really stay with it. And you lose weight by accident!

5.0 out of 5 stars Has a Cult-like Following for a Reason :-), May 14, 2005
This review is from: Jane Fonda's Complete Workout [VHS] (VHS Tape)
As you can tell by reading the reviews here, people love this video! It was made during the golden era of exercise videos when the emphasis was on fun just as much as fitness, and the workout is just so enjoyable. Especially if you were a child in the 80's like me! I would've had a blast doing all the dance routines if I'd had the video back in 1988. :-)

Yes, it is more lightweight compared to programs like Taebo, so it's great for those just starting out who want to get in shape, and those who aren't looking to kill themselves doing their daily workout. I'm trying to lose my extra 10 pregnancy pounds, and this video has the perfect intensity level to suit my purpose. If you're like a fitness fanatic looking to get all buff and muscley with the veins popping out everywhere, this one's not for you obviously.

This video has three distinct segments: aerobic, floor exercise, and light weight-lifting (not counting the warmup and the cooldown segments). The aerobics are very jazzy, lots of cute dance steps, very feminine. It has a celtic-themed routine, 60's inspired bobbysoxer-type dances, and some are even a little silly, with moves like 'the monkey' coupled with exaggerated grunting. But for the most part, it's not so goofy to where I'd be too embarrassed to do the workout in front of other people, even my husband. :-)

The floor exercises are pretty tough for me since I'm a wuss when it comes to pushups and situps, but it seems very well-rounded and thorough. The weight-lifting is similar in intensity, it's fairly tame compared to some other regimens but it's definitely effective for the average person.

All in all, this is a fabulous video that you will probably become very very attached to. I bought it during my first year of college, and here I am five years later still using it! :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great overall workout video, October 7, 1999
This review is from: Jane Fonda's Complete Workout [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I've rented this video on several occasions from my local public library. This video is great for women in their mid 30s and above who wish to tone up and slim down. Jane does an excellent job of doing enough repetitions so that you really learn the steps of the routine before she moves to another one. I'd love to purchase it to add to my home collection, but I can's find it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Workout Great Value, July 3, 2005

This review is from: Jane Fonda's Complete Workout [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a really good workout for your lighter days, but do not be mistaken it is still a challenge. This video has a weights segment, aerobics segment, toning and streching. I have read other reviews that said this video was not a good workout. They are wrong! You simply have to take your personal intensity up a notch. For example use hand weights in the aerobic section, and increase your speed while jumping higher. There are two groups in the class a slower pace group and faster pace group. Follow the group that best suits you. This is a great all around workout that lasts about an hour. I would do the whole video to get a better burn. And take the costumes and music with a grain of salt. I would rather do a video with average looking people in dated clothes than some of these newer videos with uber fit perfect people in them. Give this video a chance it is worth it.
