1.0 out of 5 stars Great workout to prepare for
killing Imperialist Americans. Not only can you learn the secrets of Communism that we should all 'fall on our kness and beg to be someday'. Learn how to man an anti-aircraft gun with your new found strength that this video will develop.

Also learn how to talk on camera or radio just like Jane did in Hanoi!

I used this tape after a few months of doing Tae-bo exclusively. My muscles were SORE the day after. Which means that I had neglected them while doing Tae-bo. Now I've dropped the Tae-bo and do Jane Fonda's workouts exclusively. The moves remind me of Cindy Crawford's video. Most are really basic. Surprisingly, the back stretches are quite soothing to my achy back and has in fact strengthened my back muscles. No more back pains! After about 4 weeks, I've also noticed my arms getting leaner, not bulkier. The two alternating workouts are fast (about 20 minutes each) and basic, but it works! However, I only give 4 stars because the music is poor (don't even try to do the moves in time with the music) and overall the video is quite boring (no MTV-like sequences or exotic settings here). Nevertheless, the workouts are effective. Nice to alternate with something aerobic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jane is Great!, January 27, 2000

I've been working out with weights for years. This video is easy to follow and the advice on form is excellent. Two short 25-minute segments are easy to fit into your busy schedule and nice to alternate each day. Equipment needed is minimal. Definitely worth the investment. Fun to do. I rate it 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Core Element in my Weekly Workout Routine for 4 years, April 12, 2000

I first tried Jane Fonda's Abs, Buns, and Thighs video in 1996, then bought the entire Total Body Sculpting Series, and have been using it since. Total Body Sculpting is my favorite, and a good place to start-especially when you have kids that interupt you, since you can pause it anytime. Although you need to have a set of hand and ankle weights you don't need a lot of equipment for this tape. The weight workout gives a good whole body toning--you really feel like you worked your muscles afterward. It also has some of the best stretching I've seen with a workout video. The key advantage of Jane Fonda videos is that she is very good at instructing on proper form. She also gives suggested weight sizes to use, as well as what she uses. The cues for the exercises are good enough that I follow along with only the audio. The only major drawback is that the two-minute warm-up is too short.

5.0 out of 5 stars My absolute favorite workout video!, December 31, 2002

I bought Jane Fonda's Total Body Sculpting about a month ago. I had been going to the gym for over a year and didn't really see any results as far as getting more muscular. I thought I would give this workout at try.

I LOVE Total Body Sculpting!!! Since I am a guy, the only thing I do to make this video more difficult is use higher weights. After the first time I used this video, I was VERY sore the next couple days -- which let me konw that I was really working my muscles! Obviously during my year in the gym, I wasn't working the muscles as effectively as I do with Total Body Sculpting.

This video has two 25-minute workouts, which Jane suggests that you do on alternate days. I do both of them the same day. Both workouts start with a two-minute warmup, which I find just enough. Then Jane takes you through a series of exercises using dumbbells. The first workout starts with lunges and squats, and believe me, you WILL feel them! (If you're a guy, just use heavier weights.) She works your biceps, triceps, back, legs, [rear], pecs, and abs. Ankle weights are also used for some of the exercises, and these exercises are my favorite part of the workout. Using the ankle weights, Jane takes you through leg lifts, which are really fun. She also does seated quad extensions, which you really feel!

One surprise in this workout is the pushups! Of course, Jane does "girl" pushups, so, being a guy, I just do regular "guy" pushups.

Jane is a GREAT teacher! She's very encouraging without being the least bit annoying or phony. The ONLY thing that could have been improved upon is that during some of the exercises Jane doesn't count out loud for you.

In conclusion, I LOVE this workout. I love working out with Jane and I feel that I am getting real results -- toned, firm body and a fun workout with Jane! I'm telling everyone I know about Total Body Sculpting!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good as an Alternate, January 19, 2000

I have only been exercising every day for about 2 months and have been alternating this tape with the Firm Total Body Workout and Gilad because there are no aerobics in Jane's workout. I find her instruction easy to follow, reps are within manageable range and Jane's voice is rather soothing. She takes the time to talk about saftety while exercising which some of the others do not.

The one thing that puts me off every time I do this tape is the noise (because you couldn't call it music) that accompanies the 2 minute warm up part and the fact that Jane's movements are seldom in synch with the beat. Drives me crazy but overall it is a good tape. I do both workouts in the same day once a week and aerobics with body sculpting the other 4 but find myself looking forward to Wednesdays. This tape is significantly easier for me than The Firm tape but I still felt like I did some exercise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick, easy to learn, enjoyable, September 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Jane Fonda's Personal Trainer Series: Total Body Sculpting [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I alternate the Billy Blanks' Tae-Bo workout with this Jane Fonda tape and I always look forward to the Jane Fonda! I have never worked with weights before and this tape is quick, effective, and simple. It is good for beginners and more advanced because you can vary the weights you use. I have had it for several months and am not bored with it yet.

I use this tape with my informal morning workout group, a mix of ages between mid20s and upper 60s, and we all can keep up. Not too easy, but possible. Its best if alternated with an aeorobic workout. Our first copy finally gave out after ten years, so I'm purchasing it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - no matter what your fitness level!, November 7, 1999
This review is from: Jane Fonda's Personal Trainer Series: Total Body Sculpting [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is an excellent tape. It is quick and effecient and getsresults. I used to work out with weights at the gym but had not for afew years. I am 41 and just had a baby and this tape is perfect for getting back into the routine. No matter what your fitness level she can recommend weights to fit your needs and it is over before you know it! It is as good a workout as I got with my personal trainer at the gym for a lot less money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Short, yet effective, January 24, 2003
This review is from: Jane Fonda's Personal Trainer Series: Total Body Sculpting [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is part of her personal trainer series. It is a short, yet effective workout. She really gives a great wieght workout that works every part of the body: upper body, lower body, abs, legs, etc. There isn't a part of the body that isn't worked out. My only complaint is that she doesn't allow for the 15 second rests between reps. On her Toning & Shaping video, there are 15 second rests between reps. I think this is very important to keep from overworking the muscles and to reduce the risk of injury. But, all in all this is a good workout for anyone that doesn't have a lot of time to do a workout for an hour or so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great workout, especially for newbies, December 31, 1998

This review is from: Jane Fonda's Personal Trainer Series: Total Body Sculpting [VHS] (VHS Tape)
After too many years of a sedentary lifestyle and the consequent loss of my dancer's muscles, I'm using these routines to rebuild my strength...and it's working very well! Jane's cueing is very good. The routines are tough but short enough to survive. Combining them with aerobic workouts and stretching is burning off the fat and building the muscle more rapidly than expected. Try the video and do it as directed. You'll see results!
