Jane Getter is an excellent guitar player from New York City. "Jane", her debut CD is an exciting blend of grooves and intense soloing and high quality song writing. A little jazz, hip-hop, funk, and even African heavy metal make this CD a breath of fresh air. Check out the ending of "Deep People"...

Really excellent excellent player, excellent album, compositions, production, and the other musicians are just as good. Why haven't I heard about Jane Getter before? I don't really know.. I am wearing this CD out. As a background my musical tastes vary widely but I've no patience for BS having had my own ears broken in by Coltrane, Martino, Brecker, Metheny, Stern, Glen Gould, Paco De Lucia, SRV among others of course... The soloing withstands repeated listenings and delightfully, there are some hidden gems, if you listen hard, of acoustic accompaniment in there.. leading me to believe there's a whole different acoustic persona not yet recorded by JG.. It doesn't hurt that the production and mix are IMHO perfect and being a guitar player I am noticing the great recording of the guitar (and the drums), feels a lot like you're standing in front of the amp .. Lots of different types of compositions here, but you'll notice they're executed with a single vision. A real artist, can't wait for the next CD to be released..

I saw Jane Getter at BB Kings(NY) and had to buy the CD. Great fusion. The music reminds of the kind of exciting fusion that use to be played on WRVR in New York many years ago. Jane Getter's music has agressive changes and melodic lines I haven't heard in a long time. I recommend this to anyone into jazz fusion or just tired of the predictable lite FM crap that has come to be called jazz. It seems that jazz fusion is slowly coming back. Musicians that are serious about their instruments are making a come back. Keep going Jane!
