Color Name: Porcelain Verified Purchase
I was so excited to receive this kit after having stumbled upon the brand online. I'm glad I went to try some shades at a nearby spa before I ordered, I was definitely much lighter than I thought (use bisque and ivory). I have very sensitive, oily, blemish-prone skin and I have had zero problems with the pressed powder, blush, concealer, or tinted moisturizer, it elicits no reaction from my skin whatsoever. Compare this to a time I tried Bobbi Brown foundation and my skin began to burn within 2 minutes... Needless to say I am wary of what I put on my skin and I love that they are health-conscious and omit some of the scarier ingredients makeup tends to have these days. The coverage is great but with my oily skin it tends to melt little by little, I fix this by touching it up with another thin layer of powder at the end of the day and it looks great. Usually people with blemish-prone skin should be wary of piling on more makeup onto skin that is tired and oily but, again, my sensitive skin has not said a peep! This is pretty expensive but I felt that it was worth it to try multiple products and also I'd be getting some great brushes to boot. I've had the kit for 4 months now and I am almost out of the pressed powder (I have lots to cover up and use it daily with a makeup sponge, so it has taken some abuse), but I can tell I will be using the blush, concealer, lip plumper (tingly!), and moisturizer for quite a while.

Where to start? First, I'm gob-smacked that this came so highly rated! I'm taking time to elaborate on my negative feelings because I *so* wish somebody else had given a more detailed review with comparisons.

Re: Porcelain starter kit

Tint: it's basically a tinted, sun-protectant moisturizer. Unfortunately, it contains jojoba, which I'm allergic to. Nevertheless, it was too dark, sticky and smelled of rancid oil. I have nothing nice to say about it. Aveeno's daily tinted moisturizer is better quality (albeit, less natural).

Foundation: 2 colors in kit, a yellow undertone and a pink undertone. They did not make my face react, thankfully. I have used many mineral foundations over the years, including BE (which I'm not in love with but if your only choice is this or that? BUY BE; personally, EveryDay Minerals is better quality or was 3 or so years ago). This applies 'thin' and powdery -- of course it is powder but others sort of 'sink in.' This sits on top of your primer, which is just plain weird. I tried building it up and it didn't. If all you are looking for is something to knock off a little shine, then maybe. It's worthless to me.

Concealer: 2 colors to blend, it stung immediately, unfortunately, I applied under my eyes. It's three days later and I'm still stinging. I also applied it over a scar on my cheek and it offered no concealment.

Brushes: 3 come in the pack, the concealer brush is the best; it's comparable to EcoTools that you can buy in any CVS or Walgreens. The blush and foundation brushes are poor quality. Of course, I washed them before using--hairs fell out! Hairs continued to fall out as I applied makeup. I've used drugstore brushes better than this quality (including EcoTooks, which is okay, especially for the price).
