There's no suspense in the story because it's not a romantic suspense. IT'S A ROMANTIC COMEDY. You know, like Doris Day and Rock Hudson, Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy???? You buy the story knowing the hero and heroine will end up together AND that it will be a happily-ever-after ending.

Jane Millionaire is about people falling in love and having fun in the process, period. The story is magical and engaging. If you want romantic suspense, buy Linda Howard, Sandra Brown, or Tami Hoag. They write wonderful romantic suspense. I have most of their books.

However, if you want romantic comedy, buy Jane Millionaire. You'll laugh, cry, and smile all at the same time.

Oh, just in case I haven't been clear ... Janice Lynn has written a romantic COMEDY. And a damn good one at that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Site Rate 4 1/2 Hearts - Enchanting Book About Love On A TV Reality Show!, February 11, 2006

Jane Millionaire is the goal; twelve bachelors might even sell their souls for her noble heart of gold. But, there is one tiny problem for this royal snob - the master of ceremonies, Rob! What is a pampered princess to do?

Jill Davidson is once again bailing out her sister, Jesse. This time Jill will take her place in a reality TV show called Jane Millionaire. Jill will become a true princess for a month and will have twelve handsome bachelors vying for her affections. Only one can be chosen; the problem is Jill falls for the show's hunky producer, turned MC, Rob Lancaster. Now what is a poor pampered princess to do?

Jane Millionaire is the debut novel for author Janice Lynn. Have you ever had a book from the moment you opened the cover and start reading it just latches onto your heart? Jane Millionaire is that kind of novel. Ms. Lynn has taken a reality concept and kicked it up to a whole new level. With exceptional writing, characters that are life-like, and realistic dialogues. Readers will find comfort, friends, and a few chuckles within the bindings of Jane Millionaire. They really do not get much better than this novel!

Ms. Lynn is a new voice in the romance field and one you need to keep an eye on because she is coming on strong!

Jill/Jesse/Jane (need to keep these names straight) has always taken care of her little sister, Jesse. When Jesse gets herself in a bind, Jill is always been there to bail her out. She loves Jesse, and would do anything for her, so she will switch places with her for the reality TV show Jane Millionaire. Jill is a cop; tough, athletic, and street smart. What the heck does she know about being a pampered, polished princess? Oh, man, can she pull this off without getting caught impersonating her sister, Jesse?

Too top it off, the twelve bachelors just do not ring Jill's bell, but Rob does. Rob needs Jane Millionaire to be a hit show with high ratings. If he messes up this chance by getting involved with Jill/Jane, his career could go down the drain. He has already had one woman in Hollywood screw up his life. Rob needs to keep his eye on the prize, and that does not mean Jill/Jane.

Jane Millionaire is by author Janice Lynn. This excellent story will leave you believing in happy-ever-after! This reviewer highly recommends this outstanding novel!

4.0 out of 5 stars fine contemporary tale, November 30, 2005
This review is from: Jane Millionaire (Mass Market Paperback)
Police officer Jill Davidson has spent much of her life protecting her younger sister Jessie that often makes her ponder whether that is why she became a cop. However, this time even Jill questions whether there needs to be a limit as to how far one goes to keep a sibling safe. Though not an actress, Jill is currently performing for the TV reality show JANE MILLIONAIRE pretending to be Jessie acting as a princess of a country that she doubts Rand-McNally ever heard of. To Jill her role is so out of character for a woman men adopt as a buddy because they never consider her a glamorous sexy siren wanting to marry.

Also in the castle amongst the cast and crew of JANE MILLIONAIRE is the producer Rob Lancaster, who Jane salivates over, but knows he is out of reach for someone like her. Rob, who is doing the show as a favor to someone he holds dear cannot believe how much he desires the star from the moment he first set eyes on "Jessie". Having failed at love, Rob tries to ignore his attraction to her, but easily turns jealous with the attention of all the hunk bachelors competing for his "Jessie".

Though using reality TV as a backdrop and the theme of a couple unable to believe they are in love have occurred frequently, readers willfully appreciate this fine tale that takes the audience behind the scenes of the show as well as providing a delightful romance. The cast makes JANE MILLIONAIRE fun to read as the secondary characters bring humor to the tale while the lead couple provide angst and sexual tension. Janice Lynn provides a jocular joyful tale of love on the remote set.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and racy satire on the reality-dating phenomenon, December 12, 2006
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jane Millionaire (Mass Market Paperback)
Police officer and unlucky-in-love Jill has spent the better part of her adult life taking care of her sister, Jessie. So it is no surprise when aspiring actress Jessie asks her to impersonate Jessie on a reality dating show that she cannot appear in due to her recent engagement. All she has to do is keep her identity a secret, pick one of twelve bachelors, and keep from falling off her skyscraper stilettos.

Nothing prepares Jill for her role as "Jane Millionaire," particularly when she meets Rob Lancaster, the hunky producer/host of the program, and she has visions of him dancing in her bed instead of one of the "dirty dozen" pre-chosen for her. Rob just wants to finish the show and get his latest script onto TV; he has no time for a woman that wants to use him to get ahead in Hollywood. Or does she? As the two try to keep their attraction to each other in check, it's getting harder to keep their desire a secret - especially with all the cameras present. And Rob's producing partner has a couple secrets up his sleeve to insure phenomenal ratings. But at who's expense?

Janice Lynn's debut novel is a funny satire on the whole reality show phenomenon. But it does lack a little cohesion, and detail, particularly when it comes to the bachelors (we only learn the names of two; she only spends time with one). The romance is incredible and gets high marks for its sizzling sensuality, but if you are looking for a great satire on the new millennium of dating game (but that lacks the sizzle), check out "Bachelorette #1" by Jennifer O'Connell. But overall, a pleasurable way to pass a Sunday afternoon!

3.0 out of 5 stars Jane Millionaire, December 25, 2005
This review is from: Jane Millionaire (Mass Market Paperback)
Jill Davidson is too sensible to participate in reality television, until and unless her sister needs her to. She's been bailing Jessie out of stuff for years now, what's one more scrape? This time, Jessie has signed up to be Jane Millionaire, a faux princess looking for a husband in front of twenty million viewers. Now that she is engaged, Jessie wants no part of it, so Jill has to pretend to be her, pretending to be Jane. The first major problem is remembering everything Jes might have said. Second, Jilly is attracted to the handsome producer, Rob, but he's verboten. Between the two of them, tension runs high, but Rob can not act on his attraction anymore than Jill can. His whole future rides on this show, and Jill does not want to be caught as a fraud. They have no idea of the hidden motives playing out far behind the production of the show. Something is about to happen that will blow them all away.

When you need an escape, this is a great book to dive into. Up to a point, it is very predictable. Yet, there are twists that will keep you guessing at the end. It may not be great literature, but it's fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jane Millionaire delivers., January 24, 2006
By
Judy "book reader" (Cincinnati, ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jane Millionaire (Mass Market Paperback)
Janice Lynn delivers a winner in her debut novel, Jane Millionaire.

Small town cop Jill Davidson gets roped in by her sister Jessie to sub for her on the reality show Jane Millionaire. Since Jill and her sister have a similar looks this should be a snap. All Jill has to do is live with twelve bachelors via for her had in a European castle. Things do not go as smoothly as planned since Jill is unaware of Jessie's pre-taped interviews and photo shoots. Although some things can be easily explained away or overlooked, Jill aka Jane cannot seem to ignore that she is attracted to the producer.

Producer Rob Lancaster needed this reality show to do well so he can get back to major projects in Hollywood. When the original host had to leave Rob was forced to take over. This caused him to have much more contact with the gorgeous Jane then his body and heart can handle. Robs head is telling him to run but his heart is telling him something different.

Jane Millionaire takes us to the fun and off beat world of reality TV. We all see what happens in front of the camera but this book gives the back stage tales a wickedly funny, hot and sassy twist. Watching Rob and Jill try to ignore their desires is tantalizing, their banter sends smoke through the pages.

Janice Lynn delivers the goods in this debut novel. Looking forward to her next book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read!, January 3, 2006
By
This review is from: Jane Millionaire (Mass Market Paperback)
Jill Davidson is the sensible older sister, far too sensible to take part in reality TV. She is a respectable police officer, for goodness sake!

But...when her younger sister Jessie gets the leading role on Jane Millionaire, then falls in love and gets engaged to her own Prince Charming before filming begins, Jessie persuades Jill to bail her out and become Jane. The problem is Jill is not a millionaire nor is she a princess--and she has no idea what Jessie has said to get the part!

When she arrives at the mansion to begin the show, sparks begin to fly, although they are not flying between her and one of the dozen eligible bachelors she is supposed to be pairing up with. Instead it is Rob Lancaster, one of the producers who is succeeding in getting "Jane" hot under the collar.

The problem: The feeling is mutual.

Rob thinks Jill is Jessie playing Jane. Jill desperately wants Rob, but knows it is not allowed. Between one-on-one (literally) basketball games, things begin to get trickier and trickier.

As the couple's attraction grows, they try harder and harder not to act upon it. They both know that no good will come from it. If Rob gives in to his attraction, his entire future could be in jeopardy.

Jill is more than conscious of the twenty million viewers that could be watching her and voting for the bachelor they want to see her with, and she doesn't want to be exposed as a fraud. Neither of them is entirely aware of the hidden motives playing out far behind the scenes of the show, but something is about to happen....

Jane Millionaire makes a really fun and enjoyable read, getting you involved with the characters and the happenings of the show. The idea of setting this budding romance with a reality TV show as the backdrop is pure genius. It provides a fascinating and fun supporting cast while managing to increase the intrigue regarding the leading couple.

A great debut and I look forward to reading more books by Janice Lynn.

Armchair Interviews says: Although from the beginning, you a fairly clear idea of how the story will end, you certainly have lots of fun getting there!

2.0 out of 5 stars Why Fight It?, July 10, 2006
By
This review is from: Jane Millionaire (Mass Market Paperback)
I don't think there was any suspence in the story at all, it was just a matter of time until Jane/Jesse/Jill and Rob gave into the heat burning between them. Would they have been similarly attracted to each other if they had met anywhere less romantic? Say for instance if she caught him speeding? But good guy gets the girl in the end. What age was this written for teenagers?

"I'm not a fan of reality television and have only ever watched one episode of Survivor & that's it." ... Yep, Janice Lynn, I can tell. So why did you think you could write a good novel based on one?

The book description had me excited to read it. And then I did. And wished I hadn't wasted my time. This book could have been SO much better. Writing a good romance novel doesn't mean, for me at least, that just because you put two people together that have great sex that they fall in love. There was no basis for these two getting together after the reality show was taped. And that whole thing about the "real" princess.... dumb dumb dumb. I think I skimmed that last 10 chapters of this book just because I spent the money so figured that I might as well get an idea of how it ends.

PS - I AM a big reality TV show fan.
