4.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting, beautiful and guiding but not really Jane Roberts
I was fully prepared to let myself be surprised by this book - and I was. Although I found it stimulating and beautifully inspired in places I cannot say that I heard Jane Roberts' voice clear enough through it; rather what I heard was a mirror image of her worldview speaking through the author's absorption of Seth's teachings. Lacking was a sense of depth and...

1.0 out of 5 stars No Resemblance to Jane Roberts Butts, December 18, 1999
By
This review is from: Jane Roberts' A View From the Other Side (Paperback)
This book not only DOES NOT resemble any of Jane Roberts books, but it uses phrases and belief systems that Jane Roberts wrote about in her other books as being extremely limited. I'm sure the author feels that she is channeling Jane and is sincere. However, just a glance at this book indicates an understanding far inferior to the one Jane showed in her books. Nothing in this book bears any resemblance to Jane Roberts views or language. It includes a very "light" conventional limited viewpoint of reality - nothing like the firm foundation of metaphysics given us by Jane Roberts. I rated it one star only because I could not find anything lower.

1.0 out of 5 stars Silly, silly...., April 16, 2000
This review is from: Jane Roberts' A View From the Other Side (Paperback)
Anyone who has a grasp of Seth's teachings should know this is not Jane being channeled! This woman may (and I stess 'may') have tapped into her world view, but that is all. It's a shame that such a wonderful legacy should have such a cash 'cow' cashing in on it. Don't waste your money. Go to a library if you must have a look, and do not support such a silly woman's fantasy. Like someone else said, 'I rated it one star because there was nothing lower' :)

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid this book, January 9, 2001

This review is from: Jane Roberts' A View From the Other Side (Paperback)
I am really disappointed to see a book like this hit the press. It contains 0 original content and I question the authors motivates for writing this books. I don't see how any "real" Seth reader can give this book anything higher than 1 star. I give it one because there isn't anything lower.

1.0 out of 5 stars WHAT A JOKE!, November 25, 2000
By
This review is from: Jane Roberts' A View From the Other Side (Paperback)
Don't waste your time with this one, folks! Jane Roberts ISN'T "channeling" her wisdom from "the other side" through the auspices of Ms. Marecek, and, as a Seth and Jane Roberts fan, I'm disgusted by the fact that this person would try to drag Jane's good name through the mud in this manner. Do yourself a favor and get ahold of a much better book--MASTER OF DISASTER: A TALE OF MANIFESTATION, MAYHEM, AND MAGIC, by Jan Longwell-Smiley. It's a metaphysical novel that beautifully and cleverly incorporates many of Seth's and Jane's teachings, and is on a par with Richard Bach's ILLUSIONS. MASTER OF DISASTER is money well spent. JANE ROBERTS: A VIEW FROM THE OTHER SIDE, on the other hand, is money down the drain!

2.0 out of 5 stars Too small, nothing new, too little explanation from Jane, August 16, 2001

I'm disappointed to see how others have presumed Mary Marecek's intention for publishing her book. I'm also disappointed to see the "it's not Jane" condemnations. Who could ever know for sure that some part of Jane's survival personality was not involved in the production of this manuscript? We also know about channeling, Seth told us many times, that a level of distortion is involved in the process coloring the work through the mind of the receiver. FOR MY REVIEW.... The first thing about this book is it's size. THE BOOK IS VERY SMALL and in my opinion is hardly worthy [it]... However, I did find some valuable information in this book. I didn't read any ideas here that I haven't already read in a Seth book. The concepts presented here might offer a slightly different perspective but I believe reading Seth would be much more beneficial not to say cost effective.

1.0 out of 5 stars I read Jane Roberts and this is not Jane Roberts..., September 28, 2004

and certainly nothing from Seth here. This unusually small "book" (more like a brochure) is nowhere near the quality of Jane Roberts' own as well as her channeled books. I don't understand why people actually believe that this author is channeling Jane Roberts?

4.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting, beautiful and guiding but not really Jane Roberts, May 3, 1999

This review is from: Jane Roberts' A View From the Other Side (Paperback)
I was fully prepared to let myself be surprised by this book - and I was. Although I found it stimulating and beautifully inspired in places I cannot say that I heard Jane Roberts' voice clear enough through it; rather what I heard was a mirror image of her worldview speaking through the author's absorption of Seth's teachings. Lacking was a sense of depth and multi-dimensionality expressed by Jane's writings as here the words sometimes verge on the very banal.

Nevertheless it is a very inspiring book of simplicity and grace and I have recommended it to many as a starting point in self-exploration.

5.0 out of 5 stars In a class with the best, September 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Jane Roberts' A View From the Other Side (Paperback)
This book is in a class with the very best of the metaphysical writings of recent times. This slim volume is packed densely with succinct language. It is dense with information and ideas. Nearly every sentence stands on its own as something worth reading and considering. Those who are growing and inquiring will want to hear what the author says. I read the book this weekend: I finished and turned back to the first page and started again.

When I logged on to post this opinion, so much did I like this book, I was surprised to read the poor reviews of others. I personally would not presume to say what Jane's "personality" is like now that she's a spirit. I can only say, having read all the Seth books and many others, I found this perspective, this view, this particular distillation of information well worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very beautiful book, December 7, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jane Roberts' A View From the Other Side (Paperback)
This is a wonderful book. It has a purity and simplicity that is deceiving. It is not intellectual. Nor is it scientific. It is a distillation of ancient and universal wisdom written gently so it touches your own inner wisdom, so you can say "yes that is true," or "I forgot that and am glad to be reminded." It is a book to be placed by your bedside and referred to often.
