An Unusual, Suspenseful, Erotic Sci-Fi Romance! Terrific!,

This review is from: Jane's Warlord (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
Barak Arvid, a twenty-fourth century warlord, is given urgent instructions by the Temporal Enforcement agency to travel back in time 300 years, to 2004. His mission is to protect reporter Jane Colby from certain death at the hands of the time-traveling Jumpkiller, Kalag Druss. Barak is a genetically engineered human, whose body is five times stronger than 21st century humans, and whose bones are so dense they are practically unbreakable. He has a "neuroweb combat computer woven through his brain, giving him access to a vast data bank and information from sensor implants scattered throughout his body." In other words - he's brilliant, an honest-to-God know-it-all! He is also a super sensual hunk - six feet five, long dark hair, chiseled features, and a sex drive that doesn't stop.
Ms. Colby, the owner of a local newspaper and a crime reporter, is pretty attractive herself - and feisty, independent and intelligent. What else? She's our heroine. Jane covers a brutal murder close to her home, where the victim, a young woman, literally looks as if Jack the Ripper had spent some time with her. Shaken, Jane returns to her house and finds Barak and his sidekick Frieka, a genetically engineered talking wolf and warrior. Needless to say, Jane, after she gets over her initial terror at finding superman and mouthy canine making themselves at home in her domain, thinks she has lost her mind. She is finally convinced that Barak is there to protect her, and will not leave her side, accompanying her to bed and bath, untill the killing machine has been taken out of commission. Not unbelievably the two get it on in some of the steamiest scenes I have read, and then fall in love. This could certainly distract Barak from his mission, as the fierce warrior was really not programed to love and had never experienced the feeling before. "Jane's Warlord" is a delightful, exciting sci-fi romance, suspense thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat, spellbound, when you're not mooning over Barak. Sidekicks Frieka and Jane's cat, Octopussy, provide terrific humor. And the villain, whose criminal history will certainly surprise you, is as evil as they get. Angela Knight's writing is skillful, savvy and smart. Her characters are most original and credible, (given their incredible history). The dialogue, especially the banter, is at times hilarious, and at times deeply moving. I was sorry to finish this novel, and as soon as I did I looked up Ms. Knight's other books for possible purchase. She has earned herself another fan! JANA

This is one you HAVE GOT to read,

This review is from: Jane's Warlord (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
JANE'S WARLORD is Angela Knight's first full-length work by Berkley and if this is anything to compare future titles to, we are all in for a treat! Let me start off by saying this is one hot novel, so if you get easily offended this may not be the book for you. Ok now that we have that out of the way I can tell you I loved this book.I am sure that other reviewers have told the storyline so I will just hit the basics. Jane lives in South Carolina and is the owner/reporter/photographer for a small hometown newspaper publication. Baran is a Warlord 300 years from the future sent to protect her from a JumpKiller (Serial Killer), also from the future. The bad guy in this book is scary, he likes to play with his victims before he slices and dices them, then takes a turn having his fun with them. He has time jumped and commited murders all through time. The things I loved about this book are many. Jane is a strong female, she is not just waiting for the big strong man to come save her. She does her own share of saving also. She doesn't have any of the hang-ups that we see in a lot of romance novels. Baran, now here is a hero! Besides looks, and I could talk about that all day, he is so alpha. The part that sets him apart and made me fall in love with him was his soft side. He tries so hard to always be tough and in control, but he cares about the people he is trying to help, even people he is just meeting. I won't give away the plot, but there is a scene where he comes upon a wreak and it really upsets him that he knows the lady inside the car is going to die before they can get her cut out. He gets her out even though he gets hurt in the process. He has a tender heart and Jane can see through his tough guy act. Baran has a partner, a timber wolf who talks through crystals around his neck. He is a walking talking library of knowledge. He can download any info into his computer implant and then pass it on to Baran. The thing I loved is he is such a smart mouth, funny, has his own personality.... wolf! Angela Knight has really brought these characters to life. I could picture Freika (the wolf) chasing Jane's housecat, calling out "here kitty kitty" LOL He had his own thing going on, and Angela did such a great job writing I could see it all in my mind. There were times I was laughing out loud reading about him. Angela has came up with a wonderful new future world that I would love to read more about. I hope she will do more Warlord stories. I fell in love with this one. I liked that the book didn't have fillers in it, you all know what I mean by filler, sometimes it is like the author needs so many pages and just repeats or tells you the same thing a hundred different ways just to fill pages. This book was NOT like that! Each page had new things and I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. If you have not read this one, get it today. It is well worth it. I have already put this one on my keeper shelf and have marked my calender for future Angela Knight releases. All I can say is, please Ms Knight, write faster!! You have fans out here waiting on the next book. Angela Knight is a name to watch out for in the future. Good Luck Ms. Knight.

HOT HERO AND SASSY HEROINE!! GREAT BOOK!!,
By "spirithaven" (Murfreesboro, TN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jane's Warlord (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
This book was such a good book that I had to read it 3 times before I could put it down. The hero is a generically enhanced hero from the future designed for battle called a WARLORD! The heroine is a sassy Southern reporter called Jane! The hero's sidekick and comic relief of the book (with the perfect timing and sarcastic wit of FRAZIER!) is a genetically enhanced timber wolf called Freika who has a fetish for cats! LOL! Baran the Warlord is sent back to the past (our present) but the Time Police! to save Jane from an assassin from the future (known as "Jack the Ripper"...warning some scenes are very bloody! but not too many!) Baran is literally a human tank....Strong as 5 normal man with the genetic ability to wage war and the protective instincts of an Alpha male. He is true hero material as he fights "Jack"! And can he think of some kinky sex scenes! <Sigh> He sure gives Jane a run for her money, being of the he-man protector sort, but she gives back as good as she gets! The action scenes are wonderful! The love scenes are hot! And the future is bright according to this book! I love it! I hope she writes more from the storyline! I was a previous fan of this author from her SECRETS stories (her vamps are to die for!) and her Ellora's Cave stories (CAPTIVE DREAMS etc.), but this book in my opinion takes her to superstar level..... Make room for Angela Knight because here she comes!

I'm not a into-the-future kinda person, never read any books on the subject either. But this book kept me up all night, I couldn't put it down. Jane and Baran were definitely getting their freak on in more ways then one. I think the eroticism between the two characters, along with the suspense, made the book a very enjoyable read. I just wish the story was longer, but either way, this book is a keeper. Freika, the wolf, had me laughing my head off. I can't wait for Ms. Knight's next book to be released.

I am a huge fan of authors: Christine Feehan, Kinley MacGregor, Lori Foster, Dara Joy, Jaid Black, Susan Sizemore, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Karen Marie Moning. This is my first review for any book but this book had me riveted! It's up there w/the best of them. I had to share it. If you like any of the above authors, you'll LOVE this one. I can't wait to read it again. I'll probably start in a minute and I just finished it a few hours ago. It runs you thru the mill of emotions...I actually felt a little sick when the "Jack the Ripper" attack replay was described, but it was an necessary part of many of the story lines. Dont' miss this one!!!!!!!!!!! It has the best of everything: romance, erotica, mystery, and danger....don't forget the futuristic/space-time travel aspect.

one great book from a very talented writer,
This review is from: Jane's Warlord (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
I first read Angela Knight in Red Sage's Secrets Vol. #2. The novella was entitled "Roarke's Prisoner" and she literally blew me away! I immediately was desperate for anything written by the talented writer, who gives you a raw, red-hot story, yet still remembers the passion in romance, not just the sex. She always has a strong plot foundation that is often missing in other Erotic Romance writers. Basically, she is am author who gives you her all. I was very disappointed to find out this amazing writer did not have dozens of books on her backlist. How could print publishers let this talent slip through their fingers? If I was an editor I would have snapped her up two years ago! I devoured the other Red Sage books (Secrets #3 "Blood and Kisses" and Secrets #7 "Kissing the Hunter" were vampire tales) and they were just as strong. She has a new book out this month - besides Jane's Warlord - from Ellora's Cave - Ellora's Cavemen: Tale of the Temple II and her second big-book is out in October called Master of the Night - a sexy vampire saga, her 2nd for Berkley - so to say Knight is on fire is putting it mildly! Frankly, it will be the readers who are on fire! This writer is one to watch! It is interesting to see the impact Ellora's Cave is having on mainstream print publishers, because Knight turns up the romance with intensely, erotic love scenes, which might have some faint-hearted readers blushing! EC making big waves and you are seeing more writers from EC being snapped up by the publishing houses. They are stretching the general genre Romance, pushing the envelope. It's rather exciting to witness the "new kids on the block" making the old guard take notice. Writers who are coming out of Red Sage and EC are bringing a large following with them, so they enter the trade paperback market with big sales and instant bestsellers.
However, Knight is one of the best by any standard. She creates strong characters you care about, gives reasonable (Time-Travel is always iffy logic to me! lol) explanations to her Time-Travel line, and takes something old and makes it new again. There will be instant references from readers of The Terminator giving Knight her seed for this story, (the writer even makes a couple herself!). So? They say there are only 7 basic storylines; it is what the writer does with them that showcases the talent. Knight took sexy John De Salvo, grafted him onto a genetically engineered body ala Arnie from T1, and gives you were sizzling kick a*** tale. Toss in a Time-Traveling Jack the Ripper and you have the makings of a very compelling story. Jane Colby finds herself the target of old period-jumping Jack and the only thing standing between her and the killer are a generically altered, wisecracking timber wolf and one sexy warrior from the future. Knight blends all her elements so deftly. The scorching love scenes are nearly devastating, yet she manages to keep them from overpowering the whole book, by adding flawed, well-drawn characters with a rich history, a chilling stalk for a killer who is in turn stalking Jane, and the quirky humor of having a talking wolfhound that makes me think of the mouthy dog from the Men in Black Movies. The scenes with the wolf an absolute how, punch up the intensity level of the sexy love scenes and the brutal slayings, but giving the reader that much needed (pant pant) time to catch their breath! This may be Knight's first trade paperback big book, but she sounds the trumpet - she is a force to be reckoned with sexy, futuristic/paranormal tales that take the reader to the limit and beyond! If you want your romances on par with "a kiss on the cheek Regency level" then give this book a pass for it will curl your toes. Knight's book is a "if you cannot stand the heat then get out of the kitchen" sort of tale. For those wanting a novel that delivers on all levels, then take the walk into the fire! Just be sure to have a tall picture of iced-lemonade handy! I am also very impressed with her research about Jack the Ripper. As Jack as been one of my fields of study, I appreciate her taking time to learn all the details of the case. It's reflected in her writing. I cannot wait for her October release of Master of the Knight. Camelot was vampires! Jane's Warlord,
By Jeanine Rothwell (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jane's Warlord (Berkley Sensation) (Paperback)
This was a very exciting, very sexy tale of a warlord from the future who comes to save a brassy, strong-willed woman from the present. Things heat up between them and they take you on a ride through their wild, sensual adventures. Angela's charcters are exciting, passionate and even funny. They make you fall in love with them. This is the first book I have read by her but it will not be the last. I will read all of her books both paperback and e-books because she has struck a cord with me. She is right up there with Laurel K. Hamilton as far as creating engaging characters that make you want to read on and on. I would recommend Angela Knight to any reader who is tired of the same old romance and wants something spicier and more alive! Thank you Angela Knight for giving us your exciting worlds and your creativity!
