~ A GOLD MINE OF RARE JANET JACKSON REMIXES ~, February 5, 2002
This review is from: Janet Remixed (Audio CD)
In 1994, I'd heard an uptempo, R&B version of Janet Jackson's "Anytime Anyplace" during a noonday mix on 106 KMEL in San Francisco. To this day, I've cherished the tape I recorded it on, wondering when I'd ever hear it again. In January 2002, I did hear it again: on this album, which boasts two (count 'em!) versions of "Anytime Anyplace". Then in early 1996, I heard KMEL (yet again) play an R&B-ish UK remix of one of my favorite Janet songs, "Where Are You Now". I cherished THAT tape as well (I recorded it) for years until when I heard to my surprise that it's track #8 on this album...and those are just two tracks, folks. The rest of the album is "so worth it" because these tracks are pretty darn rare. This also included "On and On", a bonus track that was only previously available on the "Anytime Anyplace/Throb" single in 1994. We also get "70's Love Groove" which was only previously available as a B-side to the "You Want This" single. There's more. For the house music fanatics (which is probably the majority of you), you get an insanely mischevious "Throb" remix, and more in the form of "If", "You Want This", and "That's The Way Love Goes". The only weak track is the "Because Of Love" remix - no verses. As someone else mentioned, she should have included "One More Chance", a Jacksons remake that was the B-Side to Janet's "If" single, but oh well. The album is still 100% satisfaction for those who a) appreciate a good remix, and; b) appreciate a good JANET remix. Thanks for reading! C.H.R. P.S. The 2nd version of "Anytime Anyplace" is the slow R. Kelly version (think of "You're Body's Callin" from R. Kelly's 1994 '12 Play' album to get an idea).

The Remixes Are Tight, August 11, 2000
This review is from: Janet Remixed (Audio CD)
janet. REMIXED is a great album that contains remixes from her hits from the janet. album, as well as bsides which didnt make the album cut. Among the best remixes include You Want This, If, That's The Way Love Goes, Anytime Anyplace, Where Are You Now, pretty much every remix. The only one I didn't enjoy was the Because of Love remix, but its still nice. The bsides are great too, And On And On is a great summer song, 70's Love Groove is a great song about making love. I wish the CD included the great bside One More Chance, its on the If Single if you can find that. Overall this album is a must for fans of Janet!

I was always a Janet fan, had the albums went to the concerts etc.... But it wasn't till VR, I became a die hard fan! Anyway, rediscovering an artist is amazing and hearing these remixed really made me take a step back and say "whoa!"
I think the best remix on here is CJ's remix of "Anytime Anyplace," he also did "That's The WaY Love Goes." I remember someone commented on, why did Janet let CJ remix her songs. Well, he is a tight remixer, duh. CJ also remixed some songs for my other favorite artists the london based band Incognito and he pimped their single too!
Get this, because most of the singles from the "janet" era are out of print just like her earlier singles.
Now, if we could get a remix album for "Rhythym Nation," ha, like that will happen. A girl can dream right?
