5.0 out of 5 stars A very delightful book to read
I enjoyed reading Janey's Girl a lot. At first it is just like any other book, but once you get to the end you just can't put it down. I enjoyed everything about it. The romance, the humor, and drama combined all into one book made it even more worth reading. It is sure to please you no matter what. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the ages of 10 to 15...

Whatever you do, if you pick this book up to read, don't start it in the night cause you won't be able to put it down. I think you should make a sequel to it. If there were, I would definitely read it. Janey's Girl is and was definitely worth reading. Well done Gayle Friesen, you definitely have something to be proud of.

3.0 out of 5 stars Curious Claire, February 10, 2006

This book is about a girl named Clarissa (Claire) that goes to her grandma's with her mom Janey. They stay there for the whole story except the beginning and the end. Claire finds out about grandpa she didn't know because he's dead. She finds out why he and her mom didn't get along. She also meets her dad that she's never met before and her little brother. She finds out that her little brother has been dealing with leukemia. She deals with the problems of her sick brother, her mom, and dad around each other.
I liked that she meets her brother because it's fun to read about. I also liked that Claire meets her dad because he's a real neat part of the book. I didn't like that the book had Claire thinking all the time.
I would recommend this book to someone who likes suspense stories. I would also recommend this to someone that likes drama. His is also a real like kind of book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book ROCKED to begin with.., November 2, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Janey's Girl (Hardcover)
I'm a kid, so maybe you don't want to take my review seriously. But whatever. Onto the review...

THIS BOOK ROCKED. It centers around a fourteen-year-old girl, Claire who spends her summer at her grandmother's farm, where she learns the memories and past that lived there. She has many questions and is given all sorts of incomplete answers.Who is the man with her hair and eyes? Why did her mother give up her music when she had such a gift and obsession for it? And why is her mother so reluctant on unravelling the truth on exactly who Claire's father is and Claire's grandfather?

Curious? Well then, read the book. And get the answers to Claire's questions.

Excellent plot, wery well written! I had to read this for school, and I usually don't like the books the school recommends, but this is one of the exceptions! Clever, witty, and real, it is for anyone who likes to read or finds reading boring. Janey's Girl will capture you, and I guarantee that you won't be able to put it down! I couldn't, and I stayed up until 2:00 a.m. reading it. An excellent gift idea, or a great purchase for a pleasure read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story of Discovery and Independance, March 14, 2009
This review is from: Janey's Girl (Hardcover)
Janey's girl is a book that I found wandering through the library one day. It's about a girl who lives in Toronto with her single mother, who is a very monotone, uptight person who likes to make desicions for her daughter. When they go on vacation to her mother's hometown, she discovers more than she asked for. She finds her father and herself. It's a wonderfully compelling story that I would recomend to anyone around the globe. Though it probably helps if it's in that person's language!

4.0 out of 5 stars Janey's Girl gets four stars!, April 23, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Janey's Girl (Paperback)
Janey's Girl written by Gayle Friesen is an awesome book. It starts off as Claire (Clarissa) and her mom Jane go to her mom's old house where her grandmother lives. The story evolves around that making a enchanting read. Claire is a spirited girl that hates her mom being so protective. I am not going to say much more because it will ruin the story. This book must be read by girls age eleven and up! Claire's story will keep you glued to the pages, making it a page turner. Gayle Friesen is denfinitly has a great style of writing and a pretty good plot that will want to make you finish the book as quick as possible.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Janey's Girl (Hardcover)
This book was the best one I've ever read(and I'm a bookworm, so I've read a lot). It was everything good in a book. It only took me a day to read it because I couldn't put it down! It was so good, I want to buy it so I can read it a million times. Is there a sequel? I sure hope so. THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ. PLEASE READ. And I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Janey's Girl, October 16, 2002
By
This review is from: Janey's Girl (Paperback)
I have never been a very consistant reader but this year for a book report in my English class, I decided to read the book Janey's Girl. I have never been so moved by anything that I have read in my life! Clarissa is an amazing girl, going through changes, figuring out life, and trying to understand all of the ups and downs that life is presenting to her right now. Trust me I understand a lot of it being a teen myself, and this book has helped me very much emotionally. She knows that her mother left Smallwood for some reason, but never knows what that reason is exactly until this summer. A visit to her Grandmother ends up changing her life so dramatically. Clarissa does so much in this book that inspires me and makes me love what I have and everything that I may discover as well as give. I am not an emotional person and to this book I broke down sobbing, I was moved that much. I highly recommend this book, and if you never read anything else in your life ever again, and this book is the last book you read, then it was worth being the last book. It is an amazing story and I for one will always have it in my life I plan on ordering it and reading it over and over again.
