LCD Screen

The Backlit LCD display allows you to easily see what stitch you using. Use the directional buttons to choose stitches, and adjust stitch width and length.

Needle Plate

The advantage of easy drop-in, top load bobbins is that you can readily see how much thread is left on the bobbin through the window. You do not have to remove the bobbin case to insert a new bobbin, and you do not have to remove the accessory tray from the freearm to change bobbins. Drop-in bobbin sewing machines also have full rotary metal hooks which move in one direction, run quieter, and require less lubrication than underneath oscillating shuttle hook and removable bobbin case systems

Easy Convenience Buttons

Start / Stop Button

The start/stop button allows the machine to sew without using the foot pedal. This feature is great for sewing long seams, or for quick mending.

Easy Reverse Button

The Reverse button allows you to easily backstitch for locking seams. With the tip of your finger, this conveniently located button can also be used to stop a stitch pattern before its completion.

Locking Stitch

The locking stitch button ties off the end of the thread. No need to backstitch to lock a seam. This is ideal for securing seams on delicate fabrics, or when using decorative stitches.

Memorized Needle Up/Down

Push the button to set the needle to stop in the up or down position. Set the needle in the down position for easy pivoting on corners and for seamless free motion embroidery. Set the needle to the up position for easy fabric removal.

Speed Control Slider

Set the speed for comfortable sewing the speed control slider. This slider allows you to set the top and low end speeds of the machine. Set to slower speeds for intricate work, and high speeds for long straight seams. This is a popular feature amongst beginners. Never sew faster than what you are comfortable with.

I have not been using this machine long, but I already love it. At first when I tried it I had trouble with the machine feeding itself the material. I was used to having to really guide the material along with my old machine. This machine does not like it if you try to push the material into it. All you have to do is put the material in and put the foot down and start to go. The machine does the rest. I am working on very delicate material and this machine just glides along with no problems.
Also hemmed up a pair of jeans with one the decorative stitches which was a blast. So far no problems with the machine. My husband commented first thing about how quiet it is.

I couldn't be more happy with my new machine! The features on it are just was I was looking for. Set up was easy with the instruction manual and the machine is very user-friendly. The I received everything in its original packaging and within the estimated delivery time. The standard accessories kit includes bobbins, a needle set, zipper foot, satin stitch foot, and buttonhole foot, and more. It is worth it to spend a little extra for a machine you know will last you a life time versus buying something cheap at Walmart that will probably break on you in 6 months. I would definitely recommend this machine to anyone whether you just starting out (like me) or you've have lots of experience.

I knew I wanted a Janome when I started looking. I love to quilt but don't have a lot of time to dedicate to it these days. My last machine was a Brother and although it served me well, the decorative stitches stopped working when I had it cleaned. Since the DC 1050 was so new there were not many reviews out there. I narrowed it down to the DC 1050 and the DC 2010 (both were in the price range I wanted). The DC 2010 has the superior feed system (SFS) but the DC 1050 had the decorative stitches I wanted. From what I've read about the superior feed system is that all Janome machines have a sturdy feed feature even without the SFS. It was stitch number 20 and the start/stop button that won me over to the DC 1050. I got the machine just in time for a quilt retreat and it performed beautifully. It is quiet and sturdy....works like a dream! I am very happy that I chose this machine. It didn't come with a darning foot or a walking foot but the ones from my Brother are compatible. My next purchase will be the extended table!

I am not a skilled seamstress.
Bought for the automatic threader. (old machine pulls thread out constantly.)
Only time I need to re-thread is to change colors.
Made some Christmas gifts and used the fancy stitches, makes nice gifts!!
Even used metallic thread. Just had to use slower setting.
This thing can go fast, I use medium to low speed.
So got nutty and decided to make button hole. WOW how fun!
Put the button in the back of the foot, pull down a hidden arm, choose settings and hit start. That easy.

Have not used pedal yet (small dogs at feet) But still look for it before hitting start button!
It takes exactly one more stitch after you hit button to stop.
Very happy with this sewing machine. It is fun to sew now.
Light weight, easy to take to plushie club meeting but no way letting anyone touch it.
Have your patterns and fabric ready, when it arrives you will be a sewing fool!

I recently purchased a Janome DC1050 through Amazon.Com and I have been extremely pleased with the machine provider and the machine. I just completed a baby bassinet cover and matching fitted sheet. The Janome came equipped with settings to serge my seams, put in a blind hem, zig zag setting for securing elastic together for the fitted sheet, and button holes. I purchased an extra rolled hem foot for finishing the little edges and I plan to get all of the sizes offered in this foot--talk about a time saver-no more measuring and ironing and measuring and ironing... The manual for the machine is pretty good, but I supplemented with online tutorials since most everything I did was new to me. This is a great machine for beginners.

I got this machine from a local specialty store. It is a little work horse. I was told that this Janome comes with a little plastic arm when all the others are metal and so other foots will not work unless the plastic arm is replaced. He threw the piece in for free. He said the only big complaints about the machine are due to the fact that people just didn't know the plastic piece needs to be replaced.
I honestly could not be happier with my machine.

When I first got this machine, I loved it! It's user-friendly and easy to use. Sews nicely.

HOWEVER, within first month, thread would jam and get caught inside bobbin casing. I fiddled with it, with the wick, and it would work ok again for a while. Yet, whenever I cleaned it, it would act up again - I kept readjusting the wick until it worked.

Now, less than one year, it won't work! Can't sew one stitch without thread getting stuck, knotting up on underside of fabric, breaking, etc. Even ordered new bobbin casing. Changed needles, new bobbin, etc. NOTHING works.

I went online and found out that LOTS OF PEOPLE have the SAME problem. Evidently, this is common with the DC1050. This is the first sewing machine I have purchased. I wish it would have lasted longer. I'm tired of dealing with the frustration!!! Next time, I'll do research on "problems" for a sewing machine to see what people are reporting.

When I bought the machine, I based it on Amazon reviews. So, I'm adding my own review to give the heads up!
