I have used several machines recently trying to find one to fit my needs. I'm not an experienced seamstress, but I've been plagued by less than adequate machines. Problems with tension, feed systems, bobbin threading, enough to make your sewing project frustrating.

From the box, this is an easy set up. Learning to thread the needle and wind the bobbin took less than 10 min. The Manual is very detailed and easy to follow. Take the extra time to read through the manual especially if you are new to sewing, it tells you which pressure foot to use with what fabric, it tells you about the stitches and which fabrics they are best for. This is easy enough to understand for a beginner.

First go at a straight stitch I had a perfectly straight line without touching the fabric. The decorative stitches are beautiful and with the lock stitch function easy to give a professional finish to.

I highly recommend this machine!

I bought mine from a local dealer on sale. I couldn't be happier with my new machine. Being skeptical about the computerized components I was hesitant, but now I wonder why I waited so long. It is quiet, smooth, user friendly, and I enjoy sewing on it. I have made many bags and other items that would have been a problem for my 1957 Singer slant. Nice, tight stitches in those thick seams! No more changing cams; just the touch of a button and I have the selected stitch. I am finding a lot more excuses/reasons for using it! :) The feet that are included make the purchase of this machine cost effective considering the separate cost of accessories. If you do need feet that aren't included, as I did, the Distinctive brand (sold on this site) work well and are less expensive than the Janome brand. Further, I have found that the SA156 bobbins (made for Brother) work well but the Singer 15's have jammed this particular model. I have owned this machine for 2 months without complaint one.

This was a Christmas Present for my wife. She has been, and will be, the person using it. I bought it for her on the recommendation of my daughter, who is an accomplished sewer and has experience in the fabric industry.

My only experience with sewing machines was replacing the nylon gears that seemed to break on schedule on an old Singer machine my wife used years ago. The Singer was replaced with a Brother that worked O.K. for several years with only periodic "Tune-Ups" but it was limited in features. It was very noisy and always seemed to run rough. The "Brother" was needing another "Tune-Up" ( $100.00 )

With Christmas approaching I committed the ultimate sin - I bought my wife a present that had an electric power plug. Oddly enough it has turned out to be a good move.

My wife loves the Janome DC2011. It has plenty of power and so many features. Kathy is sewing with a smile on her face now, and I like the fact that it is SOOooo Quiet. She often sews while I watch TV only a few feet away in the same room and I can hear the programs clearly without bumping up the volume.

This review is not very technical, and for that I apologize, but my wife is very pleased with this sewing machine ( so I am pleased also )

After a lot of research I recently decided to purchase the Janome DC2011. The first project I made with it was a purse. The Janome sewed through several layers of fabric and batting without missing a stitch, or without any tension adjustments. The ability to set the machine to stitch at a slow rate, plus the needle up/down feature was invaluable to me as I stiched around the many tight curves of the purse. I also like the low angle foot control. I am thoroughly impressed with the ease of sewing on this machine. As this is a recent purchase, if anything changes, I will provide an update.

I love this machine. I have only had it for about a month, but I have sewn quite a few things with it. I havent sewn anything too heavy duty, but I really think it could still handle it perfectly. I love the extra, non-essential features like the needle lock button and the speed lever. I dont think I will ever use all the stitches, but I really love the decorative stitches, and use the 3-step zig zag frequently. I was leery of the computerized side of it, and am still not looking forward to possible future repairs, but it really does make this machine so easy to use. I love being able to pick a stitch and it automatically setting the width and length (although you can than adjust it). It is also a really good deal with the case and all the feet (especially the walking foot, which very few machines come with and I use frequently). This might be a more expensive machine than what some people are willing to pay (I only got it because it was a christmas present from my husband), but it is well worth the money for anyone from beginner to advanced. If it helps anyone decide, I mainly use it to sew clothing and cloth diapers.

I love my Janome sewing machine.
It is a replacement for the Brother 6000i and definitely an improvement. I had started quilting, and the Brother machine just did not do the job. It was too weak to go over seams without some pulling. Of course, that was no way to keep seam allowances steady. Not so the Janome machine, which zips right over seams. The tension regulation also works well. In general, it does all the basics very well, and the basics are what I need. I would not know about fancy things because I don't do them. The Janome is exactly what I needed, easy to use, sturdy enough and reliable.
It's a keeper.
Not to forget, the machine arrived with all necessary accessories, it was shipped very fast and the price was right.
