I am pleased to say that this is a jewel of a sewing machine.

I am a quilter and have purchased lots of sewing machines for different purposes, some very expensive ones.

I had this machine for years and if I had ever wanted to hug a sewing machine, this would have been it!

I am sooo glad I bought this machine.. it's really quite easy to use.. within 1/2 hour of unpacking it, I was sewing away! Easy to thread, easy to use, the knee lifter for the presser foot and the auto thread cut are great. Very easy to change the feet, even while you are 'mid stitch'. Everything you would ever need is included. The extension table is a great plus especially since I am a quilter. I previously owned a Janome and wanted to stick with them and this model was a great choice! I highly recommend this machine! The only complaint I would have is the absence of a hard carrying case, ()although it does come with a soft cover.

I bought my Janome Memory Craft 6500P over a year ago now. It had been used on a near daily basis for a couple years in a professional alterations shop, but the machine appeared to be in good condition, so I bought it even though I knew it had some miles on it. I have since moved across the county and opened my own alterations business, and this machine is my workhorse. I had never used a Janome machine before and wasn't terribly familiar with the brand, but now sewing of my other home machines is an exercise in frustration! This machine is sturdy, powerful, reliable and intuitive. Its enormous work space makes even the big jobs manageable, and thanks to its extensive sewing features and all the handy accessories it comes with, I've been able to sew everything from leather to chiffon on the same machine. Maintenance is simple, and any repairs I've had to make (for all the abuse I put this thing through!) have been very minor. My shop is open 40 hours a week, which means this machine is running for at least 8 hours every week day. Here's to seven months in business, and the most I've had to do is change a lightbulb!

This is indeed a workhorse of a machine with one big weakness, the bobbin case. It shifts around and then causes timing problems. Now the machine makes a horrible noise, though it sews correctly, because the bobbin case is rubbing the housing area. And, when you check with Janome they say the warranty is void when purchased from any other than an authorized Janome dealer. Love Amazon, but don't love that.

I bought this machine for my wife's birthday. She is a quilter and was thrilled with the quality of this product. She has had several higher end sewing machines over the years but tells me this far and away the best she has ever owned! She says the features are outstanding and ease of use amaze her each time she works on her quilts!!

I purchased this machine in August 2011. It's now December 2011 - I have purposefully waited a long time to write this review. Prior to owning this machine I had been sorely disappointed in sewing machines (breaking constantly, bad tension devices, sad little excuses for workmanship) and wanted to try all the aspects this machine had to offer before saying anything. I am pleased to say that this is a jewel of a sewing machine. I have been in 7th heaven for several months now. I am a quilter and very "picky" about certain things on a machine. This substantially heavy machine is wonderful. I have memorized the booklet that came with it so as to make new adventures make more sense. This machine does everything I need a machine to do and then some. I am one very happy and fortunate sewer to have found this machine. Thanks to Amazon for uniting us for what I am sure will be a long run. I am thrilled with the purchase, the delivery, the actual machine itself, the first rate body of the machine. As always, Amazon, you are one great source for my family and I am most appreciative!

I have had this machine for about 8 months and absolutely love it. I also own a Juki 654, Janome HD3000, Janome 300E and a blind hemmer. THe 6500 is the center of my sewing room. I love everything about it. I have not used all the stitches but the one have used are beautiful. It is not loud and runs very smooth. I wanted to get a more advance but this is perfect no need for something more sophisticated.

This machine is an awesome machine. It's a serious sewing machine, and certainly not for beginners. It's super heavy duty, super fast, and once you unpack it you realize you will probably never have to buy another sewing machine again. It has tons of stitches, two thread spool holders, programmable needle positions, last stitch recall, a knee lift, and best of all...an automatic thread cutter. Another feature is the presser foot pressure button which makes sewing through thicker fabrics a breeze. With this machine I never have to worry when buying heavy duty or thick fabric - with this machine I am confident I can complete any sewing project I tackle. It comes with a giaganic extention table, and a bevy of feet. One thing to consider is that the base does not come apart for sewing sleeves...so if you do a lot hemming or cicular work this machine might not work for you. I make my own clothing, and I have not had a problem with not being able to use an arm type option. If I do need to, I just break out another machine. Another point to consider is althouhg the machine looks like it's easy to move and light weight, it's not. It's heavy and not easily moved around like some lighter machines. I found I set my machine up in one place and prett much leave it there, while with other machine I was able to push them back or move them to the side of my project. If you are not strong, you will need two hands to get this machine to the car.

This machine is well worth the money.
