Though many refer to Janson's collections of Art History books to be the "bible" there's still too few female and other marginalized artists from the past included. It gets better in each edition (I purchased the 2007, 7th. edition). I wouldn't bother with used, earlier editions, unless one is researching the transformation of this "bible" into more inclusive reviews over the years...
It's a good primer and reference collection to have for any art history student or hobbyist. |
