1.0 out of 5 stars Meandering Book That Went Nowhere, January 27, 2012
This review is from: The Janus Syndrome (Paperback)
I'm the first and (Hopefully) last person to review this book. First off, it had a good premise that went nowhere. An agent that supposedly works for a group of advanced aliens called the Builders. Unfortunately after the first chapter the story went absolutely nowhere. What started off as En Medea Res (In Middle Of The Action) took us to boring, boring and more boring! How was Keevan recruited? How long had he been an agent? Where exactly was he trained? The book answers none of these questions, save for a statement on the last page of what state in the union he hails from and some cryptic references as to his heritage (One Of The Few Plusses In The Book Was Having The Hero Be A Minority; A Rarity In The Early 1980s).

There were too many characters, too many wisecracks and too little substance! Then there was the plot--there was none! I could not understand what the objectives of the characers were. Too, the final battle at the book's end was nothing but a cliche and didn't fit within the framework of the book. How this book was published I will never know.

Nothing comes together here and I'm disgusted that I spent as long as I did reading this book. If you come across this book at a used bookstore I beg of you to avoid it at all costs. This is a cliche that is true: Don't judge a book by its cover. I did, and I wasted several weeks trying to get though this book when I could have been reading something worthwhile.
