Um... not in a mean way at all, but this book is very poorly written. I distinctly remember a sentence that used the word "stuff" in it. The flow of the book itself is a little hard to follow as well.
This book attempts to cover a lot of ground, and as it is a fairly short book, it is ridiculously vague and hardly gives enough information. For example, there was only a tiny paragraph on how Chinese writing was brought to Japan and how it was adapted, which hardly sufficed.
I found a lot of things in this book were poorly explained...
I'd only recommend this book to someone who already knows or has taken a course in Japanese history, and needs a refresher. I haven't really learned much from this book at all, and I am a little disappointed in it for the price I payed. T-T
All and all, it isn't bad for a dense refresher, but otherwise, is kind of useless.
