Japan in 22 Days Redux!,
By David Old (Santa Fe) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Japan in 22 Days: A Step-By-Step-Guide and Travel Itinerary (2-22 Days) (Paperback)
I wrote this book 'back when' in 87 and to this day I get phone calls about it's content. I am still happy that I came up with a great balance of country-side, city life and classical 'nihonteki' old Japanese culture. There are some new villas being promoted for foreign tourists that run around $20 and I'd add them in a minute if I could re-write this book.I hope to do an updated version of this book and call it Japan My Way. My way is to take a few days minimum someplace nice and just hang around. If you come home from a trip to anywhere and you don't know a single persons name, you have failed as a traveller! Stop and get to know folks. My stop at Mrs. Suzuki's Inn in Ise is still as wonderful as ever. Since I wrote the book I can never get in she is booked up, but the neighborhood is still great and so close to Tokyo! douglasfirfloors.com is my website and feel free to write with news or feedback please. |
