4.0 out of 5 stars A Near Perfection of Craft, Good or Bad?
Japan for sale traverses the entire spectrum of popular music genres, from rap to rock, electronica to ballad pop, with an unmistakable Japanese flare. The pop is pure sugar with a cherry on top, the rap is fluid and easy on the ears, even the album's grittiest of rock is refined and catchy. The trade off for this fine craftsmanship is the lack of anything cutting edge.

1.0 out of 5 stars MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!!
I bought this CD during a visit to J-town in San Francisco last year and I was shocked at how un-listenable the CD was, I think I only liked two of the tracks. The mix overall is very uneven, I wouldn't consider this as a fair sampling of available jpop, this is an unfortunate rubbish tip packaged for quick sale to the poor soul looking to explore a rich and fun musical...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Japanese Music!, December 3, 2005

This CD is great if you are just getting into Japanese music, and have not been exposed to much of it. It spans dance, to rock, to rap and pop music. I was a little disappointed that they included an anime theme song in the list, but L arc en ciel is a very popular band in Japan, so it makes sense to put their latest hit on the CD.

My personal favorites are Orange Range's "Shanghai Honey," Aiha Higurahi's "Baby Beautiful" and Asian Kung Fu Generation's "NGS"

However, I was disappointed by the ACO and Takkyu Ishino songs included on the list, but otherwise, it is a great CD from beginning to end!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good JPOP CD, November 4, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Good Mix of JPOP. READY STEDY GO by L'arc~en~Ceil is a great song, and should be familiar to fans of anime as this is a theme song to Full Metal Alchemist. N.G.S by ASIAN KUNG FU GENERATION is another excellent track.

4.0 out of 5 stars J-pop fans NEED this., December 28, 2004
A Kid's Review

The best track hands down is "Ready Steady GO" #9. It has an awesome beat, and is the opening theme to Full Metal Alchemist! The second best would be the 2nd track The Great Amateurhythm. I don't like rap, and it takes some getting used to, but sooner or later you have to laugh at the Japanese rap going on.
