This slim book is an attractive introduction to the history of Japanese illustrated books. The text is not extensive, but for most of us may be just enough. A good amount of both color and black & white illustrations makes the book especially appealing. Includes short chapters on Women's World, Nature and Landscape, Poetry and Poets, Romance and Folktales, etc. I recommend it as an enjoyable book for anyone with a budding interest in the subject.
