As a linguist for the past 35 years, I have found that the entire series, "Japanese for Busy People", undoubtedly comprises the most outstanding language learning material that has ever been published in any language. It is obvious that a prodigious commitment was made in order to successfully compile such a user friendly, organized and efficient course, which deserves prominant world recognition.

I am starting Intermediate Japanese (Japanese 5) and this is the book for the course. I am giving this a 4 because I wish that the chapters were longer and more indepth, but since I have a native japanese speaker instructing, he does a good job filling in the gaps. Also, as one studying for the JLPT, I wish more japanese books taught along those guidelines.

We are using this text in class. The Material is relevant, with enough depth and breadth. the CD's that came with the text and the exercise book (2 different CD's) are a joy to listen to. I play them in my car, saying a long as best I can. The speech seems to be normal conversation speed. This is intended for the advanced-Intermediate learner. Would be excellent as a text in class as well as for self-studies.

I find this set, plus the Japanesepod101.com lessons online, and the Pimseuler CD's are the most efficient, effective and enjoyable way to learn.
