5.0 out of 5 stars Well designed tool for Japanese learners, including NISEI Japanese born outside of Japan!

Works better on iPhone/ipod touch than Kindle due to its limited image viewing compatibility.
One thing. The title may need a bit of adjustment because we can't tell which grade's it is on Kindle screen since the title cut off in the end with showing the grade number in...

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, but pages too small on kindle
This series is a great idea. What promising potential to make learning kanji (normally a monotonous task for most people) into an entertaining and meaningful activity.

My one glaring criticism is that the page images are too small to be read easily on my Kindle 2 screen, and they cannot be adjusted larger. Perhaps they would display well on the DX model.

Not much to this. It has very little info. It needs to have stroke order and a couple of samples of usage. If you already mostly know the Kanji, it might be good for reviewing. Very inexpensive at under $4, so you don't have much to lose.

The concept is great but these flash card are missing KEY items. They DON'T tell you what the Kanji character means in English AND they do not include the writing instructions (stroke order). For example: if i knew thar the symbol was for "hand" then I would't have needed to buy first grade flash cards. I recommend that you pay for Tuttle's paper flash cards until something better comes along.

2.0 out of 5 stars not great, July 3, 2011
This review is from: Japanese "KANJI" Learning Flash Card -1st grade- (Flash Cards) (Kindle Edition)
i echo other criticisms of this book (no stroke order and kindle compatibillity) and will add that it neglects to give basic meanings of many kanji.

For example, the kanji for "enter" is given. this is a kanji you see often in japan (like in a parking garage), but the book doesn't give the definition "enter". Instead it gives two samples "nyugaku" and "kounyuu" which mean enrollment and purchase. IMO this is a drawback.
While it is not expensive, you might want to find a more effective use of you pennies...maybe an app for ipod or wait for an improvement.
