5.0 out of 5 stars Sweeping and uplifting, July 7, 2003

This review is from: Japanese Mysteries (Audio CD)
Beautifully textured music that blends the best of Eastern and Western instruments. At once serene and energetic, Ron Korb's Japanese Mysteries have a well paced mixture of tracks, each telling a story that is infused with cultural elements. Tokaido has an especially memorable melody that one will want to listen to again and again.

Listening to this music is the most refreshing and pleasureable experience I've had in a long time. It's essence is sanguine, it's depth moving. It touches a quiet place deep within - one reserved for moments of insight, reflection, and self. The purity of tone, the quality of the music and the talent of this artist shine. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

This review is from: Japanese Mysteries (Audio CD)
Japanese Mysteries is a collection of simply gorgeous music. Though there's definitely a Japanese influence, it's not unduly dissonant and is a perfect blend of East and West. The melodies make sense and flow from one to the other. They tell stories without becoming intrusive. This is wonderful music for evenings in the garden.

I purchased the CD based on hearing Autumn Rain and was thrilled when the rest of the album lived up to that one. There's not a single weak track here. The samples available are an excellent representation and if you're searching for a CD to evoke tranquility without a Muzak quality, you'll find it here. Highly recommended.
