I was first introduced to the music on this CD in a rather unusual way: on the original Muppet Show. They had a guest puppeteer (forgot his name) who did a performance of Bunraku--which is sort of a cross between Japanese Opera and Puppet Theatre. This was the precise music used in the telling of a traditional Japanese ghost story. Everytime I listen to the Real Audio clips on this CD, I can remember the performance as if I had seen it yesterday. For those who enjoy traditional Japanese music, this is a must for your collection!! |
