4.0 out of 5 stars Very fun but not for young kids
These dolls aren't for someone who is in a hurry. I made 30 dolls for our school project. They turned out very elegant. There is some glueing involved and one of my packages was missing some of the doll hair. In my opinion, there isn't enough doll hair anyway. The colors of origami paper are very pretty and varied. The instructions are lacking a bit but it wasn't too...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute Dolls, but Lacking
The dolls are really cute. I must say I was a bit disappointed. Very nice box, and when you open it, you have a pack of paper/hair to make the dolls and black and white folded instructions. I was expecting a nice little color booklet for the instructions (for future reference & use). The box certainly is over rated to the actual contents. I think I paid more for the...

The instructions are lacking a bit but it wasn't too difficult to figure out what was needed. I guess you could say I had to improvise.

I think I paid more for the box than the contents. The amount of papers you get to make these dolls are definitely not worth what you pay for this kit. I can buy a 20 or 25 pack of origami paper at Walmart for $5-$6. Overall this kit is okay.

I agree with others who have commented on the size of the box, compared to actual contents. And the instructions are not great, requiring a little improvisation along the way. Plus younger children would struggle with following the instructions, I think.

However, the dolls are lovely once they are done. The paper is beautiful and richly colored. The final product is well worth the questions and head-scratching.

Yes, the box is pretty. I was attracted to the promise of all the materials and the beautiful dolls. What a let down. 1) THEIR WAS NO HAIR; instead, it is black crepe paper for making hair. 2) The doll heads are cardboard and the body is a small (flat) stick. 3)The paper is 4x4. It is an excellent texture, but very small. 4)There was no book inside only a sheet of instructions that are VERY confusing. I have been making origami for many years and the instructions could have been in color showing the contrasting color and white side. I am greatly disappointed by this kit. For ten dollars I could have an entire pack of paper with a book. Now, I have to search the internet to find out how to make the dolls.

My teenage daughter, who is very good with arts and crafts, enjoyed this kit. However, the dolls are just a little too small, which makes it really hard to work on them. If you have a younger child, this may not be the kit for them. The dolls are really pretty though.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Worthwhile Purchase, January 22, 2011
This review is from: Japanese Origami Paper Doll Making Kit- Make 8 Dolls!
I was able to complete a doll with much time to spare. It was fairly enjoyable and the papers were of great quality. My club members and I enjoyed creating the dolls immensely. And it was easy to be creative with the hair; I made anime hair styles and etc.
