Buy this book and spread the news of utanikki...it's painfully under appreciated outside of Japan...Masaoka Shiki's "Verse Record of My Peonies" is delicately sorrowful, Tosa Nikki is exciting and Izumi Shikibu Nikki is undyingly romantic...Basho is as great as ever.
