This review is from: Japanese Science Fiction, Fantasy And Horror Films: A Critical Analysis and Filmography of 103 Features Released in the United States, 1950-1992 (Paperback)
This book tries to combine the film history and analysis of Japanese Genre (ie - science fiction and horror) films with an analysis of their release in the United States. The author, however, doesn't quite pull off this mix. Much of the information in this book can be obtained from other sources. Useful for backing up stuff you already know, but there's no new material here that I trust. If you're coming at the subject cold - pick a different book. If you already know something about the subject - this will reinforce what you know but not add anything new. |
