This box is really amazing! It looks just like a piece of wood and there is not way to open it (there is no key hole or any obvious locks). But as you examin it you see that some of the parts of the box can be moved and that is the secret of the box. Moving one part at a time you can open it. Very clever mechanism!
I got my first box long time ago and am a big fan of them (I have the whole collection at home). These boxes are truely unique and even nowadays they are handmade in Japan's Hakone region (this seller, BeneGifts, has a great article about Yosegi making and history of puzzle boxes on their web-site).
It is a great gift also (I gave these boxes to some of my friends - they loved it).

I had one of these boxes already. I got this one as a gift. It worked great. These boxes are well made and feel like magic and history at the same time. Well worth it. Great for a coffee table or the engineer in your family.

Total crowd pleaser. Gave my fiance his gift hidden inside the puzzle box and the whole family got a kick out of watching him try to figure it out. ( I took away the instructions too)

He finally figured it out and was jazzed about botht the box and the gift inside.

Great design and not too difficult, but not too easy either...

This was for my son's Christmas present. He really liked it, it is a great gift for someone who likes to figure out puzzles.

The box is great. I've never seen anything like this before. I like opening and closing it. I keep it on the shelf in the living room and my friends who saw it could not let it go until they could open it.

this was horrible , it was hard to open and
when i tried to close it, it wouldnt and never did .i suggest you get a puzzle box from some were else
