JarPop is a fantastic little jar opener that everyone who has ever had trouble opening a jar should know about. It's very easy to use and will save you from a sprained hand. Just place it over the lid of a jar, like a beer bottle opener, and lift the handle slightly until you hear a little pop. That's the sound of the vacuum seal breaking. The lid twists right off after that.

One caveat is that it doesn't work with every jar however. There has to be enough of a rim on the lid for the JarPop's lip to grab onto (see photo #2). Jars with tall lids or lids that hug too closely to the jar will not work with the JarPop.

Designed by a Danish company called Brix, you can also find it sold as "JarKey". Construction is sturdy and it's practically indestructible. I've had my banana yellow and crystal orange JarKey for over 10 years. I must admit that the cute design was why I originally bought this. I didn't even know what it was when I saw it in the store. It's very stylish and exhibits that minimalist/functional design that Scandinavians are famous for. It's a cheap and useful addition to every kitchen and makes a nice and unique gift for friends and family.

This releases the pressure inside the jar to make it easy to open.

I was about to get an electric jar opener when I saw this. I was very skeptical that a cheap plastic tool could do the job, but decided to risk it given the low price.

To my amazement, it works as described. Pop, and the lid unscrews easily.

The product is amazing! Line key under jar lid, lift and it's pops the jar open. With the safety button released, opening a jar is as easy as just taking off the lid. Should be an arthritis tool of the year. Can't live (or eat) without it. I'd give it 6 stars if I could. One of the best gifts I got for the holidays.

Good little kitchen gadget to have. Makes those hard to open round top jars so very very easy to open. Highly recommend that everyone have one of these in their kitchen. Wish I'd known about these years ago.

You know how some jars now are sealed so tightly that they could survive a nuclear blast without the lid coming loose? These jars used to be a problem for me, but now I can separate my jar opening history into two categories: Before Jar Pop and After Jar Pop.

Before Jar Pop, I'd twist the lid with all my might until I heard a pop sound. No, that wasn't the lid starting to loosen, that was my wrist starting to break. I'd get that flat rubber grip thingy out of the drawer in order to get better traction, but I only got worse vocabulary. I'd whack the side of the lid with a big kitchen knife hoping to strike some sweet spot that would break the seal, but one false aim with that method risked smashing little bits of glass into the jar's contents and inviting a hideous death by glass ingestion. I'd pour boiling water over the lid in an effort to get the lid to expand away from the jar, but this usually only resulted in first-degree burns to my fingers. I'd take the jar outside and bang it upside-down on the front steps like some madwoman (cripes, no wonder the neighbors avoid me). All this and I still had an unopened jar.

After Jar Pop, all those exasperating methods became distant memories. Now, I just place the Jar Pop under the edge of the lid and lift ever so gently until I hear the sound of air escaping followed by a pop. No, I didn't have beans for lunch - that sound is the immediate surrender of the formerly undefeatable jar. It's open, just like that.

The next time you're placing an order with Amazon and you need to add a little something to get past $25 and qualify for free shipping, do yourself a favor and get a Jar Pop.

After all those years of hitting jar lids at an angle with a knife, or using a bottle open to try to pry open the side and let the air in to break the vacuum seal, this comes along and solves the problem easily. Made to fit any size or shape of metal vacuum-sealed jar lid (any that I have tried) it "pops" the seal in a minisecond, without damaging the lid itself. GREAT PRODUCT! I have been givingthem to firends and family as stocking stuffers for the past two years! LOVE THESE!

I love gadgets, especially simple, clever ones. This one definitely qualifies. It provides one of those smack yourself on the forehead moments that say "why didn't I think about that????" Utterly simple and supremely useful. How many things can you say that about? One effortless little POP and you have instant, easy access to the contents of just about any jar or juice bottle.

When I got myself one of these, it was really just because I liked the cartoonish looks of the thing. And it was on sale in the clearance bin in a drugstore for only $1.00. I actually bought two of them because of a. the price, b. I liked both the yellow and the red ones, so I got one of each. This was a few years back and they had the more solid, primary colors back then. Not the (even cooler) gummy bear colors we have now. I kept the yellow one and gave the red one to my mother. Now I bought two more on Amazon because my mother's was stolen (yup! guess some people can't afford to actually buy one, so they are forced to lift it). I got two because I wanted a gummy bear colored one too. Also, it occurs to me that this really makes a great gift for people who have carpal tunnel or arthritis - which nowadays covers over 80% of the population age 50 or older. Other than that, it's just such a handy device and a real conversation piece as well. I love it and recommend it highly!

This little tool is fantastic. The JarPop makes opening a jar so easy now. It releases the pressure and the lid comes off effortlessly. I have used it on milk cartons, too. Thanks for a great idea.

I gave these out as baby shower prizes to women of various ages. They were a big hit! Each one was amazed at how well the JarPop works. You simply place the JarPop under the lip, lift up, and listen for the POP! I was a bit skeptical, but am glad I decided on these.
