Perfect for preserving mango and peach jams (1 Tbsp per 2 lbs = 6 cups fruit). Not to mention (1/2 tsp to 10 peaches) for baked peach pie and (1 1/2 tsp) for fresh peach pie.

DID YOU also know Yeast loves ascorbic acid too? That's what this product is.

All you need is to add a scant 1/8 teaspoon (per 1 1/2 lb) loaf bread recipe. Not only will it condition your dough, but ascorbic acid helps inhibit mold. For more cooking tips Google my name, Sharon Anne and Cooking.

Before drying peaches and apricots in my Nesco Food Dehydrator, I dip the slices in orange juice or toss them with a FRUIT-FRESH mixture, to keep them from turning brown while drying. To treat 4 cups of produce with FRUIT FRESH, you need 2 tsp. of crystals mixed with 3 Tbsp. water. This 5-oz. jar contains about 35 tsp. of crystals, so it contains enough to treat about 70 cups of produce.

You can use either ascorbic or citric acid crystals mixed with water to treat cut fruit to prevent browning, but citric acid doesn't work as well as ascorbic acid. According to the label, this Ball Brand FRUIT-FRESH contains dextrose, ascorbic acid, citric acid, silicon dioxide (anti-caking), and NO sulfites. I was pleased to find FRUIT-FRESH available for sale on Amazon, because my local grocery store has stopped carrying canning supplies, except for jars, lids, and pectin.

I am very pleased with this product. And just a little does go a long way. Sprinkled on it prevents fruit from browning!I had purchased this before and was looking for another but was having difficulty.

in the summer i love to serve fresh fruit with chocolate or on skewers. the protector keeps the fruit from turning brown and keeps it fresh. I am now going to try my hand at making edible baskets that they sell for 30 or 40 dollars for a family picnic next week.
