Not that attractive up close, very flimsy top that feels like it would break if you used the handle to pick it up when full. Also after a number of uses the tap continued to leak severely! I finally got tired of wiping up tea leakage in my fridge and threw it away.

I love making sun tea when the summer rolls around, but this thing just can hold the tea, the spigot started leaking after its second use and I can't fix it. This last time it leaked clear out of the refrigerator =(

While the jar leaked when received, thanks to another review somewhere this was easily fixed by taking the following steps:

1. Unscrew the spigot.

2. Take the spigot to your local hardware store and find a hose washer that fits snugly over inside of the spigot (go to a small hardware store and ask a clerk).

3. Place the hose washer on the inside of the jar in between the plastic nut and the wall of the jar. Hand tighten.

4. While holding the nut in place, use a rag or a pliers to turn the spigot clockwise until it's a) tight, and b) properly aligned with the jar (close to vertical).

While this was a pain, this is the only GLASS Sun Tea jar of this style is was able to find anywhere. For a 50 cent washer and a little extra trouble, I now have exactly what I want.

First I want to complement Denny and Kathy's Ace Hardware for being so helpful and upfront with this product. The jar is nice looking but that's as far as it goes. The spigot is a nightmare. It leaks like crazy. Even when Denny and Kathy's Ace sent me a new spigot free of charge, that one leaked as well. I wouldn't recomend buying this particular product to anyone.

DON'T BUY THIS ITEM. The valve leaked the first time I tried it and cannot be fixed. A combination of poor design and cheap workmanship. I regret the $14.00 plus I spent (shipping was half the cost). I have own several sun tea jars over the years and I can tell you this one is a genuine, 24 karate piece of S--T.

I bought this to make Kombucha tea, so far it has worked out great. It does not leak and the spout on the front makes for filling the bottles with tea a breeze.

Update:

After about 6 months the spout did start to leak.

The seal around the spigot is poor. The first time I used this to make tea, the tea leaked slowly all over my refrigerator shelf. I see from the other reviews I am not the only one with this problem. I saved my receipt, so instead of throwing it away I will get a refund.

I bought this product for a friends birthday gift... looked great, just what the friend wanted! Filled it up, set it in the sun to brew, set it in the fridge to chill, leaked like a sieve at the spigot seal area. Messed up the entire refridgerator. Sadly, it's one of those lower cost items you don't feel like boxing, sending back. I'm trying to fix it for my friend. Total cost was around 15 bucks so, it was a little pricey for a jar and then to have it leak.... totally unfortunate.
