And I can tell you from experience, unless you are willing to pay a whole lot more for a heavier glass version they all leak.
So go to the garden section of any store and pick up a packet of garden hose rubber washers.
Unscrew the spigot. Place a washer on the spigot. Thread it back through the hole in the glass pitcher. Place a second washer on it inside the pitcher. Screw back on the nut. Make sure it is screwed on snug, but not too forcefully.
Now fill the pitcher with water and set it on a towel or paper towel to test it. The leak should be gone.
Enjoy your pitcher!

I ended up buying a faucet replacement from Pure Water Health (on Amazon) that was a little too large for the glass opening (3/4" versus 5/8"). From the advice of a previous reader (mucho thanks!) I used a Dremel tool to widen the hole and voila....the new faucet works great! It's a tap style that secures much better than the spigots that Jarden has.
The washers that accompany the Pure Health faucet are much better in design, curved in form so it provides a much better seal than a flat washer. And, on the inside of the Jarden Jug, they do not have a washer - - just a plastic screw fixture that connects to the spout on the inside of the jar.
I have recommended to Pure Health that they develop a 5/8ths faucet that can instantly replace the Jarden spigots. If I were their marketing manager, I'd advertise this solution all over the web and also call Jarden to immediately replace their faucets with the Pure Health design.
Hope this helps.
remember.. there are really helpful people out there waiting to be asked to help you.
what happens is the seal washer is set tight, but it compresses over time and needs tweaking.
or some poor Chinese slave working for $0.17 and hour is afraid of breaking the jar and getting savagely beaten unconscious and waking up in a snow bank out side the plant without a job, to watch their children starve.

Nothing to see here; move along....
