4.0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining, even spectacular
Program: Top class. Very well thought and entertaining.
Performances: There are many great guitar duos, but these two play as one.
Arrangements: I had some trepidation seeing almost 15 minutes of 'Rhapsody in Blue' for guitar duo, but it is quite spectacular and worthy.
Any dissapointments? Sadly yes. No liner notes!

3.0 out of 5 stars Didn't make an impression
The music in this CD is pleasant and the guitar playing is good but the whole CD felt more like elevator music than serious music which brings out the individuality of these artists. Not much of the music stuck in my head or had me marveling at the beauty of a tune or the virtuosity of the artists.

This is a lovely CD, with the Assads in peak form. The selections are beautifully arranged, in particular "Chora Coracao", which is one of Jobim's most haunting songs. The only flaw in the recording is the strange addition of "Rhapsody In Blue", which just does not fit in with the evocative mood of the CD. Highly recommended!

Composers from very different cultures separated by centuries in time speak with a beautifully intertwined language through the voice of these phenomenal interpreters.
Of profound beauty, it pleases the heart and the mind.
My favorite CD. It is on constant replay and will not age.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT RECORDING!!, January 1, 2008
This review is from: Jardim Abandonado - Sergio & Odair Assad (Audio CD)
Once again the Assad Duo display their mastery over a wide range of stylistic music from the rhythms of their homeland Brazil to the jazz influence of the US with visits to Europe's impressionism and the modality of the mid-east. The recording is full of pure beauty and exhilaration. This is a must own CD - not just for guitarists!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jardim Abandonado is AMAZING!!!!!, December 30, 2007
This review is from: Jardim Abandonado - Sergio & Odair Assad (Audio CD)
The Assad's are the best guitar duo on this planet! There have been many attempts to imitate their talent,
but these guys define musical and instrumental virtuosity. No one else comes close to these guys and this record is full of some amazing/wonderful transcriptions and arrangements only possible with their gifts
and artistry. "Jardim Abandonado" is a legendary recording! Their arrangement and interpretation of
Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" is magical and effective. They also offer novel and exciting renditions
of works by Debussy, Jobim, and Sergio's original. Also, a brilliant new work by Clarice Assad featured
on the CD as well. This is ANOTHER favorite in my collection of Assad CD's. A must have recording from
this Brazilian superduo! Thanks for making such wonderful music!

This belongs on my "best of" list of classical guitar CDs-- actually, it would be the top of my overall best of list, regardless of genre! If any duo can make two guitars seamlessly sound like one, it's them. This CD will be playing repeatedly on my ipod for a long, long time. Bravo!

I'm very happy that I purchased this item. The music on this album is 'new' to me, except for the Gershwin piece, and that is a very different version. I'm glad that I have it. This is nice to listen to.

Music sooth the savage beast, or something like that. This album is transporting, soothing and energizing--depending on what you need. Perfect for laying in bed on a rainy day or as dinner music for a cocktail or dinner party. You'll enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Du jamais entendu : 6 étoiles !!!, January 5, 2008
This review is from: Jardim Abandonado - Sergio & Odair Assad (Audio CD)
