Roedelius - 'Jardin' Au Fou' (Bureau B),

This review is from: Jardin Au Fou (Audio CD)
Originally released in 1979, as I believe this was his second solo record. Might require a couple of spins to fully grow on you. Still, it was refreshing to hear "Fou Fou", the snazzy "Cafe Central", "Gloria Delores", "Schone Welt" and the seven-minute "Tempera". Personnel: Roedelius - sythesizer, keyboards, vocals & composer, Hans Brandeis - guitar, Schagzerig Greene - cello & keyboards and Greene - drums. 'Jardin Au Fou' would likely serve the purpose of a great meditation CD for some. Definitely worth checking out.

This is an excellent reissue. Roedelius' second solo album outside of his main project at the time, Cluster, (originally Kluster). This album was more "acoustic" based, as far as featuring prominant piano, and organ, rather than an electronic, music concrete' atomosphere. Some wacky, almost circus-like, organ themes come up now and again, but as an overall album, really fun, contemplative. I recommend it to anyone who likes Neu!, La Dusseldorf, or Michael Rother's solo projects, as well as Harold Budd, Brian Eno, Harmonia, or of course Cluster, and Dieter Moebius. Anyone looking for some of the outer-side projects going on during the classic Krautrock years in Germany should be interested! |
