5.0 out of 5 stars Really fun, and a new direction for Jari February 3, 2010
Verified Purchase
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this workout since the description of it both here on Amazon and on Jari's website were pretty vague. Since I have all seven of Jari's previous workouts and really like them, though, I pre-ordered this workout since I always like what she does. This workout definitely marks a new direction for Jari -- and it's a good one!

Basically, there are four premixes on the main menu that you can choose from: the Complete Workout, the High/Low Workout, the Dance Workout, and the Weights/Abs Workout. If you choose to do the Complete Workout, the entire thing comes in at just around 65 or 70 minutes long. The idea behind the Complete Workout is that she has you do 2-3 minutes of high- and low-impact routines and 3 minutes of dance moves that are alternated. In some of Jari's more recent workouts, she alternates weight and cardio segments, but in this newest workout, you do all your cardio, and then you do the weight and ab work at the end, once you've finished your cardio. From what Jari said in the intro to the workout, the idea is to bust through any weight loss plateaus and shake up your routine a bit.

There are some aspects of this workout that are definitely new for Jari. The warm-up section only has her -- with none of her usual backup crew, and it felt sort of rushed to me. Also, the biggest surprise to me was that the Dance section isn't led by Jari -- it's led by a woman named Angie who has her own crew of backup dancers. There are no male background exercisers in this workout, which was another surprise since Jari usually includes at least one male.

I have all of Jari's workout's and REALLY like all of them. I just received this dvd today and popped it in to try it out. I selected the "Complete Workout" option, though there are several options you can select. I wasn't too crazy about the warm-up. As the other reviewer said, it was Jari alone (no back up exercisers) and she really started moving FAST. I thought it was a bit abrupt and agree with the other reviewer who said it seemed rushed. Then the cardio workout began, which alternates between someone who is not Jari (didn't catch her name) who leads the dance portions and then Jari who does basic hi/lo impact cardio moves. I think I am fairly coordinated, but I have to say, I wasn't digging the dance portion too much on my first time through (maybe this will get better with time). I sort of felt like I was tripping over myself trying to figure out where my hands and feet were supposed to be going. And to be honest, I maybe am just not a "dancy" person, because I wasn't too crazy about it. The cardio sections led by Jari were okay. I guess the one thing I would say is "wear a good supportive bra". I'm larger through the bust than the average woman, and to be completely honest, it was hurting with things bouncing around so much--I finally had to put the dvd on pause and put a second bra on, which I'm sure looked ridiculous, but who cares--that's why I work out at home!!!! The transition between the dance portion and Jari's cardio portion seemed a bit off too, and I agree with the other reviewer who said that too much time elapses between each cardio segment. I was a bit disappointed by the cardio section--I would give it 3 stars if that was the only thing on the dvd.
The weight section made up for the cardio--it was great, especially for only being less than 30 minutes long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gave it a chance, loving it now March 5, 2010

So I decided to wait until I've done this a few times to give my opinion. First time, I almost turned it off, I am not into "dancey" workouts and honestly have no rhythm whatsoever. But after giving it a couple of tries in the past few weeks, I am sold.
Jari's hi/low will really make you work if you do the advanced versions of the moves. And although I love GER 1000, I like that these cardio intervals are a little shorter. Angie, the dance instructor, is adorable- and I have actually discovered that I just may not hate dance! What you put into it is what you get out of it. I add jumps onto the grapevines, make the kicks a little bigger, and just let myself get into it- you CAN keep your heart rate up if you make that effort.
The weights/abs section is excellent as well- The chest track goes on forever, and by the time you do those few tricep pushups at the end of it, you KNOW you got a good chest workout. My legs were on fire after the wide squat track, so many pulses. I also found this to be one of her better ab workouts- Jari has never done much ab work on her videos, but this one had some variety to it. My only complaint would be that I would like a longer stretch at the end, she doesn't even touch the quads in it.
It's important to add variety into your workouts, and that is what Jari is doing with this one. It's not like anything else she has done, and that's okay with me. This one has earned it's place in my rotation. I say give it more than one chance, you just might love it.

I am a huge Jari Love fan. I love her style of workout and encouragment. She is for sure one of my favorite trainers. I am continusly surprised at the price of her DVD's, I would pay twice what they cost. She is an amazing instructor - she really knows what she's doing. I particularly enjoy her website and all the helpful hints she provides. She is great!!!!I dont have all of her dvd's just yet but I do have 3 including this one and cannot wait to get the rest of them.

I also waited for awhile before commenting on this dvd. I wanted to do it for awhile and be sure of how I really felt about it. I can say that I do think Jari's other DVD's are more effective. I have Ripped and Chisled and Get Extremly Ripped 1000 and I cannot tell you how much I love them and what great results I get when I am eating properly. Excellent, Excellent! One thing you will hear again and again in the fitness world is that you must have variety to acheive weight loss, toning, definition goals. Variety is what shakes things up, keeps your body guessing so that you dont get into plateau. I think that is the great thing about this DVD. It is different than Jari's other DVD's and most other DVD's and I love that she took a chance and did somethnig different and it really does work.

Warm Up: I agree the warm up is really fast. I didnt like it at first but after doing it several times I really like it! I feel like it wakes me up and gets me going. I love Jari's energy. I like that she did something different by warming up along. It feels like she is training you personally. I love her comments at the beginning here to give the workout all you have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good workout, and cheesily entertaining
I do a lot of the Beachbody workouts (TurboJam, TurboFire, Shaun T, T25, etc), which have a very high energy and high production value. This workout is much more bare bones. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Hated it.
First of all, Jari looks anorexic in this video. Way too skinny and not a healthy weight. I was very disappointed as I own her "RIPPED" and it is fabulous! Read more
