I recently gave my grandson an older digital camera so he could learn about photography. It's an Olympus that uses the SmartMedia memory cards. Most newer computers have card-reader slots in them, but since SmartMedia is all but completely phased out and is not used at all in newer digital cameras, the computer manufacturers no longer provide slots for SmartMedia. This product is a simple, logical solution. Plugs into any free USB port, is highly portable, and it WORKS. The unit, although a plastic housing, seems sturdy enough. Price is comparable to other portable USB card readers.

If you're in the Army and need a way to access AKO from your home computer and need a CAC card reader, THIS AIN'T IT. CAC cards do not fit in it.

So, it's gathering dust at my house.

I imagine it works well for other uses, so I gave it three stars.

Purchased this memory card reader for a relative that is still using an ancient Olympus digital camera. The card reader works great, and he is now able to retrieve his pictures without using the serial cable. If you need one of these, first consider getting a more modern camera with a more standard memory card compatible with standard card readers. If you're dead set on your trusty old Olympus (as in my case), then this will work very well for you.

Most of the Card Readers does not have slots for SmartMedia Cards and xd Cards. Ge Jasho97929 Xd/Smart Media Card Reader is the right Media Card Reader for that purpose. I bought it to use mostly with some of my Music Keyboards that has Smart Media Card slot.

It was a fast delivery as I expected. Buying products from Amazon.com has always been a good experience to me.

Awsome!!! I have an older digital camera that uses this type of card. But my computer dosen't have a card port for this style. I bought this and it has worked perfectly!!!

Just connect to my laptop with Windows Vista and the adapter worked and read the SMART MEDIA were recognized instantly. Since I could recover my photos from my old camera

Simply insert your card into the card reader and the reader into the USB port of your PC/Laptop. The pictures are immediately available for download after popping up on the screen. Could not be simpler.
The card reader is small and easy to carry which is an added bonus. Easiest card reader to use that I have found. Good price too.
