Laser Tag Fun
The guns aren't just collectible replicas; they're functional and with them, you can play a great game of laser tag with your friends. This set includes two guns and two target units, enough for a two player game, but more guns can be purchased to increase the number of players.
To begin play, simply flip the switch to on both the gun and the target. The target unit has a belt clip for easy attachment to the player's body. With each shot you will hear the firing sound from the game, and the tip will light up. When you hit the target, it flashes and makes a sound.
The target has six shield levels that are indicated by lights on the unit, and the game is over when all six shield levels are depleted. Just as in the video game, you can create a super shot by holding the trigger down for at least three seconds and then releasing. This super shot inflicts more damage but will temporarily overheat the gun and disable it. When ammo is used up, a push of the reload button lets you resume. Also, like in the video game, the target will regenerate shield levels if not hit for 20 seconds.
Long Range
We were able to test the target from about 50 feet away without any problems. (The instruction booklet claims a range of 92 feet. ) One minor annoyance we encountered was that the laser tracking device wasn't especially accurate; we would get "hits" even when we weren't aiming straight at the target. This was especially noticeable in short distances and while playing one-player target practice. With multiple players, there was so much running around and the target was so difficult to hit that we did not notice.
Batteries Required
Each Plasma Pistol requires 4 AA batteries to operate and each target needs 3 AA batteries, meaning a total of 14 batteries are needed for a two player game. Investing in rechargeable batteries might be wise and would save money in the long run. The guns and targets will enter sleep mode if it detects no activity for 10 minutes, saving battery life.
What's in the Box

I bought these guns for my Master Chief Halloween costume. They are better than what I was expecting. These are a true 1:1 replica of the plasma pistols in the game. The colors, shapes, and details are spot on. I was really only interested in the way they look, but they actually sound like the gun from the game. Tapping the trigger makes the basic fire sound, while holding the trigger makes the power up sound before the big blast. The lights on the front are a nice touch to make it look like its firing. I haven't actually played them in laser pursuit, but if you are looking for a 1:1 replica plasma pistol this is it.

This is a fun little toy, but don't confuse this for the other version of the plasma pistol. This one isn't as pretty and flashy, does not have the rumble and doesn't pop open on overheating. It has the sound effects, a little light on the side that flashes when overheating, and some extremely faint green lights in the "barrel" and in terms of gameplay it is functionally the same, but it isn't a great replica like the more expensive version. Bottom line, if you want a cheap laser tag set, (or just want to have enough to be able to use one or two of the more expensive models in a real game) then these are a good deal. If you want awesome halo collectibles, you'd be better off getting the solo version.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I was a little skeptical when I puchased these, but they are loads of fun, and ended up reordering more for my nephews. We play either one on one or in teams and designate a "re-load" base where you have to go touch when you either run out of "levels" or "bullets". The "kids" we play with range from 7 to 40 and it is quite a workout. I found that the hip sensor stays put best when you use an actual belt rather than hooking it on the waistband of your pants and if we are playing really active, I put a small piece of packing tape over where the sensor hooks for added security. You do need a bit of space, though, otherwise plan on things getting knocked over. The guns and sensors are all inter-changeable, so while we purchased 3 sets, they all work together. I would highly recommend this for active fun. It does take a ton of AA batteries, though, so stock up!
