Maureen Hickey, a resident of Berkshire County in Massachusetts, is an art historian with an Ed.D. in museum education with a concentration is 19th-century American art. She ran several museum education departments and curated and wrote catalogs for exhibits such as "Berkshire County: Its Art and Culture, 1740-1800," "A Return to Arcadia: Nineteenth-Century Berkshire County Landscapes," and "A Walk in the Country: George Inness and the Berkshires." Ms. HIckey also led art-centererd travel trips in the U.S. and Europe, lectured in various locations and ran her art gallery, The Berkshire Art Gallery. Having nine grandchildren, she was inspired to write Jasmine. Patrick van den Broek is an illustrator, animator and digital designer. He has won a Boston Globe Key Award for illustration,exhibited in the prestigious Cherry Creek Arts Festival, won awards for his animations and designed a finalist entry for a Webby Award.
