Kindergarten-Grade 3?This takeoff on Romeo and Juliet, in which the star-crossed lovers are a dog and a cat, is clever and quite well executed; however, the choice of format, a beginning chapter book, is a curious one. Rex and Jasmine are about to talk each other into a suicide pact when Lorenzo the donkey brings them to their senses and suggests they run away together to a land where differences between cats and dogs don't matter. Although young readers may be interested in the theme of fair play, they will not easily understand the concepts of honor and romance. Also, the expressive pen-and-ink and watercolor illustrations would lend themselves to a larger, picture-book format.?Linda Wicher, Highland Park Public Library, IL

Bought for my little sister whom is 10. She loves the book. it arrived rather quickly and is in pristine condition. I was VERY satisfied. This is the first book i've ordered from this vendor, But if they are all as great as the one i just received for her it wont be the last. Thank you so much!!!

The obvious parallel to this book is the well-known tale of Romeo and Juliet, and in fact this book is an obvious introduction to Shakespeare for younger children. While it may not be interesting to an adult, to a child both the story and the illustrations prove to be a delight. My daughter has asked me to read it to her time and again.
