5.0 out of 5 stars Just what was needed
My brother in-law is using this for his laptop, since the battery tends to get a bit to warm for his lap to handle (& he hates draging over a side table or using the coffee table since they are usually the wrong height). He tells me it works great & it is the present he uses the most (as in every day).

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks nice! But functionality is limited
Hmmmm. I'm not really in a "bash-a-product" type of mood, but I'll try to be accurate, because I'm a little disappointed.

First, the picture is nice.

But, I find the beans and it's enclosure a little squishy and unstable - maybe this is true for all of them, but I wish it was a little more solid. When placing a laptop on it, it settles away from me,...

When placing a laptop on it, it settles away from me, meaning I have to reposition it a lot.

Big problem for me is the frame. It has a frame. A wood frame. Nice if you're hanging it on your wall, but it significantly decreases the available work space and ends up annoying my wrists in very little time. (I didn't see the pronounced frame when shopping - my fault perhaps.) But, be aware of it. It's an inch wide rendering the work surface much smaller at 11" x 15 3/8" - which is kinda small.

Maybe these are all chintzy, and my expectations are too high. I'm just not as happy with it as I want to be.

Also, I ordered expedited shipping which arrived in five days. That's not my idea of expedited. Paid almost $15 for shipping that took as long as regular shipping should take.

If it's exactly what you want, then you'll probably be happy with it. Seems well made. Just make sure to check out the photos and judge for yourself if the frame will bother you, and that the reduced dimensions fit your idea of how big you want your work surface.

Since he has a lap top with a rather large screen, I was really relieved that it wasn't too small & really worked for him.

Great product! (The fact that there is a schooner on it & that he is an avid sailor was a definite bonus!)
