About the Author

JASON SCHULTZ has been researching Disneyland history (always with a strong chronological interest) since 1995. After a time in Disneyland Guest Relations (from Mickey’s birthday in 2000 to Disneyland’s birthday in 2003), Jason ventured to the University of Maryland for master’s degrees in History and Library Science. Since August 2007, he has been exhaustively researching a complete history of the Disneyland Resort. Jason lives within walking distance of Disneyland in Anaheim, CA—a fact of which he often takes advantage. KEVIN YEE spent more than a decade working at Disneyland and cultivating a never-ending fascination with that Park’s rich traditions and history. Now relocated to Orlando, Kevin has visited the Walt Disney World Parks more than 600 times. He also enjoys traveling to the Disney Parks in other countries. Kevin is the author of several Disney books, including Mouse Trap - Memoir of a Disneyland Cast Member and Walt Disney World Hidden History. An online journalist and columnist since 1997, Kevin now publishes at MiceAge.com and UltimateOrlando.com.

This book is, without question, one of the most unique Disneyland books ever written. The author's attention to detail is striking. He takes what could be a dry subject and makes it really interesting. The only complaint would be that it should be accompanied by software that would let you look up the info in digital form by date, rather than in a linear physical form. But that's a tifle - this book is really for the Disney completist with information that hasn't been covered anywhere else. I can imagine every Imagineer having a copy on their desk at work.

I was looking forward to reading this book until I got it. It's basically a spreadsheet with dates and temperatures. It's in tiny type. But there are nuggets. The history of Disneyland unfolds as key events in Disneyland's history are noted. When did Stevie Wonder sing? When did Michael Jackson show up? When did that store open, close, and such. For someone like me who loves Disneyland it gives a perspective not found in the other books. It will trigger memories for old time visitors, such as myself (I was there on opening day, and the first to storm the castle, visit Fantasyland, and ride Mr. Toad), who have fond memories of rides and attractions and stores that are long gone.

I bought this for work and it has proven indispensable. There is so much great information here. However, if you are looking for an enjoyable, breezy read about Disneyland, forget it. This isn't it. This book is for serious Disney nerds only.

Years of spread sheets on any Disneyland topics. This is a reference book, not something you just sit down and read page by page. Happy with my purchase and I love the addition of this book to my Disneyland collection.
