5.0 out of 5 stars A book you can not put down!, November 8, 2009
This review is from: Jason's Helmet: The true story of a World War II helmet's journey home from the Normandy battlefield. (Perfect Paperback)
Yesterday, I was riding in the car as Steve drove us to Morgantown to help Jenn with her new house. I was finally settled down enough to pick up the book and start reading it. Except for stopping to do things I had to do, I could not put the book down. I found it to be entertaining, patriotic, amusing, informational and well written!

This review is from: Jason's Helmet: The true story of a World War II helmet's journey home from the Normandy battlefield. (Perfect Paperback)
A fascinating journey of discovery for the family of Jason.
A story that digs up the past; that brings historical events to life; a story of closure on a family tragedy.
Jason's Helmet is a touching, patriotic story of how strangers were brought together in the quest to reunite a soldier's helmet with the family of its owner.
Recommended reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Touching and Heart Warming, March 29, 2011

This review is from: Jason's Helmet: The true story of a World War II helmet's journey home from the Normandy battlefield. (Perfect Paperback)
So many people do not know what happened to their loved ones during World War II. There are still officially over 70,000 servicemen classified as "Missing In Action".

This is not the case for Linda Baron Heinrich's family. Because of her curiosity and diligence, they found out what happened to Jason H. Baron and his 5 comrades and in the process forged an unbreakable bond with the people of Louge-sur-Maire, France.

This is a warm, heart-wrenching story of the gratitude and respect shown to the family of a young American soldier who died in France in the days following the D-Day. The book serves to memorialize the sacrifice of these young American boys and reminds us that a deep sense of everlasting gratitude still exists in the human condition. And this coming together of strangers to celebrate a life lost too soon was precipitated by the unselfish return of Jason's Helmet.

Buy it. Read it. Bring tissues!

This review is from: Jason's Helmet: The true story of a World War II helmet's journey home from the Normandy battlefield. (Perfect Paperback)
I found this book to be a very well written account of one families journey of discovery to France to re-live a very sad episode in 1944 when 6 American soldiers died in battle and to bring home the battle scarred army helmet which was being returned after 60 years.
The personal way it has been told makes it an ideal book for anyone who has lost a loved one in any conflict.highly recommended.

I purchased this book as a Xmas gift; it was delivered very quickly to my home address in mint condition. It was the easiest shopping I ever did; and best of all, it is about a local family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Traveler, November 28, 2009
This review is from: Jason's Helmet: The true story of a World War II helmet's journey home from the Normandy battlefield. (Perfect Paperback)
I was completely immersed in Jason's Helmet as I read it on a trip I was making to CA. I found myself transported to France and becoming a part of the ceremony that would reunite the family with their uncle's and brother's helmet. I found it interesting to read about the U.S. Army strategies and munitions used for this particular assault. What a great story to share with Jason's family and the families of the other soldiers involved. It is truly a war story with a happy ending.
