This book is about a Jewish boy who feels upset because he wants to celebrate Christmas. He doesn't understand what the big deal is about the miracle of Chanukah. Suddenly he has a wonderful adventure and realizes how great the miracle of Chanukah is. I liked this book because it was well written. It taught historical facts, but in a very fun way. It was full of adventure and excitement, so it was a page turner. I enjoyed every moment of it.

This is a "personalized" adventure story that should appeal to middle school children, probably grades 4-7 or 8. Historical fiction like this is often a good way to teach about a historical event or period, and this book fits that bill, helping to make the familiar Chanukah legend come to life for kids.
