Finally...the knife song on CD,
This review is from: Jason's Song (Audio CD)
I don't have this CD but I've been looking for the knife song ever since I saw video days so it's worth it. I'm sure there are many others who have been searching for this too. Oh yeah...This is NOT Jason Lee's Band, it's the song that played in his part in Video Days. And Video Days is NOT the first skateboard movie.

Wow, his skating and style shaped my existence in the early 90's...people bitched at me for trying to grow those peace loving sideburns...I can't believe Milk did this, kudos to them...almost more important, I finally found out that "some damn good jazz" in Gonz's part was none other than legend Coltrane...you have to find out the title and album for yourself...Jason I'm glad you steered away from the current corporate megahype of skateboarding into the acting limelight...please keep skating those underground garages like I did with nobody around...the 'Video Days' are in my memory bank forever...

I thought this song was from some kind of US band like Husker Du or something when I saw Video Days (a revolutionary incredible skate movie). I always looked for the CD as I loved this song, but never found it. When I came across this release by accident ten years later I bought it immediately. I still can't believe it was the only good song by a bunch of unknowns. It really is such a great song it is crazy.

More than a CD,
This review is from: Jason's Song (Audio CD)
Finally we get to have a copy of this own all to our very selves, this is more than a song it captures skateboarding and has been the holy grail of so many for 11 years.Jason Lee, pure style and The Knife Song made one of the best skate videos in history "Video Days", even now i hear the song and get the shivers of watching it that first time round a friends house, it is a song which will remain with anyone who saw the video for a long time to come, this isnt really about the quality of the band this is about history. The other tunes are ok and the extra footage is amazing, this really isnt just a song, this is skateboarding. Buy this now and relive the moments and if you havent seen it beg, steal or borrow "Video Days" it changes your life.

I think it's a good thing. There are very few parts of skateboard culture these days that interest me. I thought maybe in the 11 years since this song was made there would enough good skate videos and original songs in videos to keep us busy so we could forget about this one. Well, this is as good as it gets I suppose. My thanks to the folks that put this in my hands. Hopefully the next 11 years will give us something that comes close to the magic that 'the knife song' makes.

Like countless other skaters who grew up in the 80's and early 90's, this CD holds a special importance. It happens quite a bit in pop culture. Somehow elements align, as esoteric as they are, and a true phenomena permeates thru a group of people whether they know each other or not, and a period of time is forever frozen, documented and marvelled over. The quality on this CD isn't very good, the instrumentation is ok, the music is scattered, but something wonderful is there. I searched for Milk for a solid 4 years and never found it. I know many others who have too. Now we have it, and it feels as good as when it rolled along in the legendary skate video, Blinds' " Video Days ". All is good once again.
