This is one of the few video cards that will run Great Planes Realflight G5 Flight Simulator Mode 2 radio controlled model airplane software with all objects and shadow turned on and it doesn't cost a lot, compared to what you can pay for video cards. I installed it on my old pentium 4 that has an AGP slot and windows XP OS.

Added exactly what I needed for 3D effects graphics. This 2004 Dell has served me well, and with upgrades like this, that were oppressively expensive at the time, I can keep her going for many more years.

Needed video card for older Dell Dimension computer,

Grandson was given an older Dell Dimension computer but it did not have the graphics card option installed. He couldn't play even moderately complex games on this computer because the built-in graphics output of the motherboard could not keep up with the requirements of the games. Fortunately this computer did have an AGP slot for graphics upgrade. The "Dimension" line of Dell computers is very low profile so a full height graphics card would not fit inside. This card came with two different mounting brackets to fit both full size and half size computers. The full size bracket was pre-installed, but it was a simple matter of two screws to swap it for the shorty that was included in the box.
AGP is pretty much dead these days as a technology for graphics adapters. In the late 90's and early 2000's it was THE hot new graphics technology. Today it has been almost entirely replace by PCIe. Some older computers that are still completely functional use AGP and cannot accept PCIe cards. This card was the perfect solution to that dilemma in my grandson's case. I'm sure he will outgrow it in a couple of years, but for now a perfectly good computer lives on in his room.

I bought this card because of its memory size (128) to play games. It was affordable for me, and I needed a low profile for my slim desktop. It is decent. For a value grade consumer video card it works just fine. Not top of the line of course. Those are like 500 dollars.
This is ok for semi-graphic intensive games to just speed up a bit. You probably won't max out your graphics settings with this card, but it really beats integrated graphics by a lot. I bought it for the sole purpose of playing Age of Empires III. My 64MB integrated graphics couldn't handle the game with the graphics settings all the way down. This card can go up to Medium (LOW MED HIGH VHIGH) but will get slightly choppy. At Low, the game runs incredibly smooth and even gives more detail than when I used my 64 card. It also cooled my computer's processor 2 C, since it has its own onboard the card. Recommened for value users for low graphics games and a decent video card upgrade. If you're still using integrated graphics, this is a great upgrade.

I just completed the installation of this card in my Dell 4600C. It is a low profile card and does come with both standard and low profile brackets. The standard bracket came installed on mine, so I had to change it. The process is fairly straight forward - you just need a tiny hexagonal head screwdriver to remove the two screws on either side of the VGA plug (the instructions in the box do not tell you how to do this and apparently it's so "obvious" it's hard to even find the information online). Unfortunately, I didn't have a screwdriver with the appropriate head, but I ran down the street to a computer repair store. They swapped the bracket on the card for me in 30 seconds flat and didn't charge me a dime. Installation is easy and even though there is an onboard fan you don't have to wire it into the power supply - just push into the slot and secure the card. I didn't even have to use the CD to install the drivers; Windows XP recognized the card and installed them for me on the first boot. This definitely was an improvement over the old integrated graphics chip that this 2003 Pentium 4 came with, and the onboard RAM helps the system out too (although I installed an extra gig of system RAM at the same time I installed this graphics card). If you are "stunned", "amazed", or "blown away" by the graphics on this card you definitely need to get out more, but this is a 9 year old system (we're talking about an AGP vid card here people). I'm just grateful it's still running and able to meet my husband's word processing and internet needs - I'm not expecting miracles. WARNING: If you have a low tolerance for high pitched noises, BUY ANOTHER CARD! I read several reviews of this and other cards by the same manufacturer that said the fan was loud, and they were all very true. If I was the primary user of the computer I'd probably have to put the CPU somewhere that would muffle the noise without blocking the airflow or I don't know if I could stand it. I do consider myself very sensitive to this kind of noise, though. Fortunately my Dear Husband suffers some hearing loss and will probably never notice.

If you have an older system with the smaller expansion slots, such as my Dell Optiplex GX240 donated me by a friend, this is the video card for you. The card that came with the PC only had 32 Megs of memory; this card has 128 Megs, four times as much. It works very well in Windows XP Service Pack 3, an O.S. still supported by Microsoft. The fan keeps the card cool, as shown in ASTRA32, Speccy, SIW and similar system information tools. There is a slight hi-pitched sound that is noticeable but not bothersome: I think the sound is due to the fan, but that is a good thing since it indicates the fan is spinning very fast, to keep the video card quite cool.I noticed a definite improvement in speed of rendering video display on my monitor. For example, with the old 32-Meg card, when I maximized the hard drive cluster map in SmartDefrag 2 by IObit, I would see multicolored snow on the screen for quite some time. But not after I installed this Jaton nVidia card. Overall this is an excellent card to insert into my old AGP-4x video slot. Of course the newest standard is PCI-Express, so this card is for the older AGP standard only. Yet the performance is satisfactory, and meets the requirement of sites which demand video with 128-Megs of memory as minimum. Of course, sites which function well with less than 128-Megs of video memory are of no concern.

I got this card because I have an old low-profile PC with AGP and I wanted to upgrade it to Windows 7. There aren't a lot of video cards out there that fit those specs anymore.
Luckily it worked like a charm. I'm able to run Windows 7 with Aero enabled and Media Center works great. Windows 7 even recognized the card immediately and installed the right driver so I didn't need to use the disk that came with the card (which doesn't have Win7 drivers) nor did I have to go searching all over the net. I took one star off because the fan on it creates a fairly loud high-pitched whine. I don't know if that's expected, but other fans I have don't do that. It gets a little annoying so I'm going to have to figure out some sort of sound dampening for it. Other than that, though, it's a great card. |
