Biography

"Get the bong out, eat some pills, stretch out on the couch and slap on the padded headphones, here come the loopy electro-laced sounds of Jatun" -Culture Bunker

"Jatun is a refreshingly uncomplicated, fluently beautiful listen, stacked high and densely with melody, soundly sequenced and rarely unengaged." -Coke Machine Glow

Editorial Reviews

Jatun is Alan Grosvenor (guitar, Keys, bass, loops) and Scott Worley (vocals, keys, guitars, laptop). Alan and Scott met in Portland and started writing the songs that would slowly form into the mish-mash of cables, circuits, ivory and alcohol known as Jatun. They began recording their self-title debut album in September 2005, and it's been engineered/mixed by Scott & Alan and Mastered by Carl Saff. The first recorded Jatun song was 'Ion Crush,' which was featured in a Nike SB promo video. Influenced by an expansive range of artists, genres and styles, Alan and Scott have learned to interpret and appreciate sound from a broad perspective. Such open ears have facilitated and understanding of sonic interplay, and a penchant for capturing the resultant noises, they craft music thoroughly and thoughtfully. Lush, enveloping and hyper-textured, Jatun's songs blanket themselves around your ears and saturate your head with warm and intoxicating, Orange-Tinged tones.

4.0 out of 5 stars Headphone Commute Review, December 24, 2007
This review is from: Jatun (Audio CD)
I've had mixed feelings about this album. Starting from the first track I wonder "why did I like this again?" But as the tracks unfold, my journey evolves; and at the midpoint, I arrive escorted by thick pads with an airy grasp. Simple break[y] percussion and synth programming swirl around slightly effected vocals and shoe-gazing leads. Hailing from Portland, Alan Grosvenor and Scott Worley have been working on this album for almost two years. Their sound is "lush, enveloping and hyper-textured" and with every listen snuggles you closer to a familiar territory where it "saturates your head with warm and intoxicating, Orange-tinged tones". RIYL: Port-Royal, Hammock, Lights Out Asia. Favorite tracks: Voila and the case and Move it or Lose it
